A billion-dollar plan for the Yankees in 2019: Get Bryce Harper and Manny Machado
Here's the projected 2019 lineup: Harper LF, Judge RF, Machado 3B, Didi Gregorius SS, Sanchez DH, Aaron Hicks CF, Andujar 1B, Torres 2B, DFC (defense-first catcher) C.
So how do they get those extra 10 wins in 2019? Simple: They go on the most historic free-agent spending spree in baseball history. How historic? We’re going to lay out a realistic plan for the Yankees to spend a cool billion dollars this offseason. That's "billion" with a "b". That’s a great lineup but can they put up 17 runs in a playoff game ? That’s what it will take when the “Ace” of the staff Sevy is toeing the slab.

This has to be one of the dumbest opening posts for a thread in the history of internet message boards.
Some fans are just completely ignorant to the fact that Stanton will hold this team hostage for the next 9 seasons if he isnt somehow traded out. And now they want to sign Harper? Some people really know NOTHING about baseball. Harper in NY would hit .220 with 30 HRs and 80 RBIs and 200+ks for $30+m a year, right next to Stanton, one of the most unclutch players in baseball with the ugliest stance and swing.
Trade Stanton somehow to the Dodgers for a bag of baseballs, and dump that money into starters and high contact hitters, preferably lefties.
Man, Cashman really screwed it up trading for Stanton.
Go Astros.

Pitching is what wins in the postseason. Adding bats , is just more of the same. The Yanks line up is not the problem . The problem is they do not have 2 shut down pitchers. Go Mets in 19

You have to admit, 1 clutch hit in Games 1 and 1 clutch hit in game 4 and the Yanks win the series 3-1. Thats how close it was. Unfortunately, this team is not clutch and hasnt been all year. Game 3 is why the Sawx were heavy favorites in the series and to win it all. And yes, lets see if the Sawx can do better than the Yanks could last year vs the Stros.

That's the Yankees. Too may HR hitters. Do they even have any .300 hitters? Guys who can grind out a hit when they need it? That is the problem with that team. So PLEASE go get Bryce Harper. That would be awesome because they will strangle their future. They did it with Stanton, now this would finish the job.
They are so consumed with fielding an all star lineup, they forget that they need real role players that can make a play in a huge spot.

I wouldnt say they never get clutch hits. Early in the year they were walking off left and right. They had plenty of clutch hits. Torres and Andujar especially. I think the organizations philosophy is bogus though. They are trying to turn Torres and Andujar in to HR hitters. Torres was a great contract hitter in the minors, now he is swinging for the fence every at bat. Same with Gary. His first year he was a great contact guy with power. Its like Cashman is just telling them to hit HRs or strike out trying. Smart Yankee fans dont want anything to do with Bryce. And like me, didnt want Stanton. With that said, they were 1 game from the WS last year. And made it to the ALDS this year so its not like they are the Nationals and completely disappointing. I mean, they won 100 games this season with a pretty bad pitching staff most the year. Get some pitchers.

But too many of the same kinds of players. Low average with big power. Having one of those guys like that Gallo kid from Texas that you can bat 9th is fine. But the Yankee lineup is loaded with them. And having a guy hitting .235 at leadoff?
That lineup makes no sense.

Trade Stanton, sign Corbin, I think Corbin is a strong possibility... He grew up a Yankee fan, has mentioned in the past about playing for the Yankees, and wears #46 because of Andy Pettitte. Plus, he's a lefty pitcher.

Plus, he's a lefty pitcher. Corbin is very realistic for the Yankees. Let Harper go somewhere else that will pay him 35-40 mil a year. IMO, the only player worth that kind of money is Mike Trout.

Corbin could be top offseason target for Yanks The Yankees are two days removed from the playoffs, but the rumor mill is already churning for the 2019 season. New York is expected to target left-hander Patrick Corbin in free agency this winter, according to MLB Network Insider Jon Heyman. Corbin, 29, is coming off a career year with the D-backs. He made the National League All-Star team for the second time in his career -- and first since undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2014 -- and set career-best marks with a 3.15 ERA, a 1.050 WHIP and 246 strikeouts in 33 starts. The D-backs are expected to extend a one-year, $17.9 million qualifying offer to Corbin, which means it will cost the team that signs him a Draft pick. Corbin grew up in upstate New York and has expressed interest in playing for the Yankees. He'll be one of the top pitchers to hit the open market this offseason, and the Yankees are looking to shore up a rotation that ranked among the middle of the pack with a 4.05 starters ERA in 2018. www.mlb.com/yankees/news/patrick-corbin-drawing-yankees-interest/c-297642006

Didi Gregorius to have Tommy John surgery Didi Gregorius will have Tommy John surgery on his right elbow, the Yankees announced on Friday. Gregorius, who hit .268 with 27 homers and 86 RBIs in the regular season, is the second high-profile position player this year to have the procedure, with two-way star Shohei Ohtani undergoing the operation after the season ended. www.mlb.com/yankees/news/didi-gregorius-to-have-tommy-john-surgery/c-297688346

The Machado rumors have just heated up tenfold +1 What are they going to do...load up their team with right handed bats?
They need some role players who can help create big innings and some starting pitching. You guys keep wanting to add more of what they already have. You always want an all star team for a lineup. If Didi is out then get a solid SS who can field and hit a solid .275 and use that money they don't spend on Manny for an arm or arms in the rotation.
but as a Sox fan...I hope they do what you guys seem to want.

Yankees will seek to trade Gray, Cashman says NEW YORK -- Sonny Gray's future likely won't be with the Yankees. After Gray's continued struggles in his first season-and-a-half in New York, the Yankees will try to trade the right-hander this offseason, general manager Brian Cashman said Friday at the team's season-ending press conference. "It hasn't worked out thus far," Cashman said. "I think he's extremely talented. I think that we'll enter the winter, unfortunately, open-minded to a relocation. Probably, if he can maximize his abilities, it will more likely be best somewhere else. But then it comes down to the final decision of the price, in terms of trade acquisition and matching up with somebody. If we match up, then I think, yeah, it's probably best to try this somewhere else." www.mlb.com/yankees/news/yankees-will-seek-to-trade-sonny-gray/c-297715344
