Yasiel Puig woke them up with that over the top celebration after his home run. I'm watching the game at a local pub with a red Sox fan friend of mine. The 99% dodgers fans in here were just as cocky after that home run. Now you can hear a pin drop.

Make sure that you thank Yasiel Puig for the wake up call. he IS a douche. Absolutely. I don't care about the celebration. The timing of it was hilarious. It was the bottom of the 6th inning and he celebrated like it was a walk off. The Dodgers deserved to lose that game, mainly because of Puig.

Yawn, so team with highest payroll by far is on track to win...so what they should. Unless it happens to be your team than it's pretty boring. If it were the A's for example, than it would actually mean something

Congrats to the red Sox. Gotta love the media and their narrative though. When the Sox win with a high payroll, it is called an embarrassment of riches. When the Yankees were winning with a high payroll, it was them buying championships. Lol

Yankees, Gardner agree on one-year deal NEW YORK -- The longest-tenured current Yankee is keeping his pinstripes. Brett Gardner came to terms with the Yankees on a one-year contract on Wednesday after the club declined the 2019 option on his previous deal. According to a source, Gardner will earn $9.5 million next season -- a $7.5 million base salary, plus a $2 million buyout payable as the Yankees did not pick up his $12.5 million option. "I wasn't sure what to expect at the end of the season," Gardner told MLB.com, "but being able to come back and rejoin this special group of guys we have in place, continue my career in a Yankees uniform -- and hopefully finish it in a Yankees uniform -- it means a great deal to me. www.mlb.com/yankees/news/yankees-sign-brett-gardner-to-one-year-deal/c-300060804

He no longer hits for average and he no longer steals bases. Sentimental signings are not going to get this team past the likes of Houston and Boston.

He's a great defensive outfielder, always hustles, great clubhouse guy, and it's only for one year for under 10 million. He'll be a platoon player at best, and we are short of left handed hitters.

THE CURSE OF THE BEER-CAN-BINO!!!! Red Sox fans threw beer cans at the team during the team's World Series victory parade through downtown Boston on Wednesday, which Mookie Betts said he spent most of the parade ducking. The Associated Press is also reporting that a beer can thrown during the parade hit one of Boston's four World Series trophies, slightly damaging it. www.cbsnews.com/news/boston-red-sox-victory-parade-mookie-betts-alex-cora-today-2018-10-31/

Yeah, he showed how much of a rag arm he has at .17 & .45 seconds into this video. Loses the ball often?? Stop it, you're embarrassing yourself.

He has a decent arm for a Left fielder. You are right though it is a terrible sign. They basically signed a fourth outfielder for 9 milion who hits under .250 with no power.

They owed him $2.5 if they let him go so the marginal cost was $7.5. of course BA is not the measure of htting, OBP is and his is high. He has the best eye on the team and often gets pitchers deep in the count. With the lack of depth of most midrelievers that has value too

It's not like they gave him a three year, 30 million dollar contract. It's basically 7.5 mil for one year. Geez....

The thing about Gardner is that they actually could have signed him for half of what they signed him for. Nowadays, he is a B fielder and a D hitter. He is also taking up a spot that could be used for a younger outfielder coming up. I'm sorry, but I think that the Yankees should have moved on in my opinion.

Gardy
Pros - Speed, defense, arm accuracy, personality Cons - Age, hitting, not the strongest arm, doesn't use speed to steal bases
At this point Brett is a 4th OFer at best, pinch runner. Since we already have Clint Frazier and Jacoby Ellsbury (pinch runner), I dont think it was a good signing.
This was one of those feel good sentimental signings like Pedroia for the Red Sox (but only 1 year and cheaper).
The worst part about it is it wastes a roster spot on the 25.
This signing doesnt make the team better. Gardner(Frazier)-Hicks(Ellsbury)-Judge(Stanton)

And if we waited a little longer with CC last winter, we might've been able to sign him for half. It didn't break the Yankees' bank for signing CC early in the winter, and neither will this signing of Gardy.

If he isnt, why not just cut him? Either way its $20+m wasted. I thought they would keep him as the 4th OFer / pinch runner at least. Stanton-Hicks-Judge (Ellsbury). Now Gardy is back, I just dont know. I still think that Stanton trade hurt this team more than helped.
