You could be right. Bottom line, I think this Giant brain trust is too smart to bring a diva into this mix. The chemistry looks real sound on the Giants. No reason to mess that up. not sure if they could even afford him. I get they can manipulate the cap with restructures etc but they already need to do that just to keep what they have. Also agree he may not be a good fit on this team in its current state. Besides, it’s not Hopkins the Giants should be looking at. If the Cards are in full tank, fire sale mode, it’s Baker that the Giants should set their sights on for a late round pick. A safety like him would be a great add. Especially in their division.

I think contorting player contracts for a move like this is done by a team who believes they are this one piece away from serious SB contention.
1. I don't think we are that close, though we are a legitimate playoff team at this point and on the rise.
2. I don't think that this is the one piece holding us back.
He would improve us but limit our options for finishing the rebuild in subsequent seasons because of contract/cap issues.

would be a crazy move to get it done but the NYGs need to restructure just to keep who they have etc. Not D-hop would fit here either. He is a great talent though

I think he wants and should go to a “win now” type team and I think we’re still a few years away. As much as I love Waller, that’s part of the reason I wasn’t crazy about the trade. Hopkins and Waller would be fantastic but I think they are on the wrong side of 30 for a team like the Giants.

If they want a legit top 5 offense then do it. This guy is an ultimate playmaker who wants the ball when the lights are on him. Waller , SB with DJs run capability and Dhop. Oh my. Defenses would be spinning.

Hopkins last 2 years stats shows he may be declining. He did have injury though in 2021 and 2022 He will be 31 yrs old this June. I will pass on him. I think finding our own D Hopkins in the draft is the way.
Year Team REC YDS AVG LNG TD YDS AVG
2022 Cardinals 64 717 11.2 33 3 0 - MCL injury 2021 Cardinals 42 572 13.6 55 8 0 - Chest / Rib sprain injury 2020 Cardinals 115 1,407 12.2 60 6 1 1.0 2019 Texans 104 1,165 11.2 43 7 18 9.0 2018 Texans 115 1,572 13.7 49 11 -7 -7.0 2017 Texans 96 1,378 14.4 72 13 0 -

I agree Martin. Draft our own WR. Someone that they could mold and hopefully be with the team next 5 plus years. Don’t want another hired diva. Especially a 31 year old that would want premium dollars. If you are gonna spend money use it towards a deal with Barkley.

Barkley is 26 will be 27 in Feb so yeah if they want to spend some money you go with the younger star. All though over paying a RB has shown a significant downside in the new NFL offensive scheme. I would prefer getting the Giants Oline in great shape. In the end you have to be able to draft really well to compete. I don't think the Giants are at the level where they need that one piece player to take them over the top. There just not there yet,

Who were the QB’s in those years?

probably a pass as the age and injury history just adds to our own returning from injury list and the cost factor as well. As others have said that team that is maybe one player away I can see them doing that but probably nawwwwwwwww for us.......

Unless he has some previously unknown deep desire to play in NYC, I don't see any pathway for the Giants to signing him. They're not in good position to restructure contracts to create space if he's looking for a big deal, AND even if he isn't, other teams would be willing to pay him a higher rate than we can anyway.
Besides, I think Schoen wants to see what they've got with all of these young receivers.
You've got a lot of speed at WR now with Slayton, Campbell and the rookie 3rd rounder.
Then they've still got Robinson who they just used a 2nd round pick on last year. They may see Hodgins as an ascending player who can be a steady possession WR. Then there's Waller.

teams should be aware of signing players whose best days may be behind them and thats what I think signing Hopkins will turn out to be...
