You're changing the subject but ok. I said Bredeson was a slightly above average player and nothing about his performance this summer or week 1 disputes that. He was 32nd overall in pass blocking efficiency last week. Right in the middle of the pack where I ranked him. Hardly a glorified PS player. I said Glowinski was a solid player based on last year. Even your PFF reference has him graded as an above average player last season. What am I running from? Maybe Glowinski has regressed this year, sure looked like it in week 1. I think he has better games in him, but I'll take the L if that's not the case. How is that? Did not change at any point in my post the subject matter. The center was a big problem. Just showing the truth and you own words on the OG. The center was the main problem with his lack of snaping ability. All he did compound the frailties of a subject O-line. The viewers of Football only see a small part of the field. The viewers do, but the analysts don't. Even with the benefit of all-22, not one breakdown by any analyst singled out JMS as the problem outside of the bad snap on 3rd and 7. Most acknowledged the weather being a factor and Schmitz being the type of smart player who will learn from his mistakes. This collapse on offense was such a clear a result of the breakdown of the RG and RT that anybody could see it.

They better win today. The schedule has the niners, seahawks, miami and bills after that. All on the road except for the hawks. They could literally be 0 - 6 if they are so bad they cant beat the cardinals.

Would people rather play poorly and win today by a point and then get demolished by the Niners OR lose by a point but TIE @sf?

While numerically, not a must win, it is a must win after the abomination that was last week. As Dandy pointed out, it is not going to get any easier and this could quickly spiral out of control.

They didn’t need a magic wand, all they had to do is show what most people outside of overly optimistic Giants fans already knew… this roster is vastly overrated and last year was what some of us knew it was, a mirage of a decent team. Can elaborate on this show each position group as it compares to the rest of the league. You’re the stat guy but all you have to do is watch other teams and take into consideration who we played last year, how we won and how much we won by. O line is horrendous, QB is questionable, WR’s are below average, Barkley is above average when he’s healthy which isn’t often and same with Waller. Sexy is very good and Leo is slightly above average but we still were almost last against the run. Thibs…I dunno, slightly above average at best, besides Jackson our corners played ok but are still unproven. One LB’er looks pretty good. Overall we have a few slightly above average guys, 1-2 really good ones (Sexy and Thomas) and then a bunch of injured and/or 1-2 year wonder JAGs.

I need one example: Are the Brady / BB years overrated because of a horrendous AFC east they played year after year? You points are not statistics. it's opinion. One thing about opinions. They are always put in a neat little box.

They didn’t need a magic wand, all they had to do is show what most people outside of overly optimistic Giants fans already knew…this roster is vastly overrated and last year was what some of us knew it was, a mirage of a decent team. I think we all knew the roster wasn't very good last year (unless your name is Miggs) We hoped it's been somewhat improved this year. I still think it has. Maybe we've over-estimated it, I would just like to see a team ready to play football today. I had hoped so too but a lot of what we had was hope whereas teams like the cowboys, 49’ers, Philthy…they knew what they had for the most part. As ai said for weeks before this game, the cowboys were 13-3 last year with a top offense and close to top 10 defense. They lost no one significant and added two studs for their WR group and already stout CB group. There was no doubt they would be as good, if not better. I agree, I think the team still has improved but like I’ve said for months, I think we’ll a worse record. Now if we get blown out by every team then that’s a different story but the writing was on the wall of what this team really was last year and they weren’t nearly as good as some thought. I mean we only beat one f’in team by double digit points and that was the tanking Colts (which I expect we’ll do to AZ today) and we had a lot go our way. We also only had 16 turnovers which everyone knew was highly unlikely to happen again or even come anywhere close to that and we’re already almost half way there after one game, lol. There was just so much “wrong” with last season to think we would be anywhere close to being a legit playoff contender this year. Perhaps I’ll be eating a plate full of crow in a few months and I would be ecstatic with that. Interested to see how the hawks do today, we could be 2-2 in a few weeks but until we can compete with the big boys on a consistent basis it’s hard for me to get my hopes up over a few wins here and there.

This could be one of the 4-5 games we win this season.
I’m not betting on it though - the Giants stink - but so do the Cards. We’ll see who stinks worse.
Feeling confident that we can at least beat the worst team in the league is where we are these days.
That’s not much to hang our hat on.

They are always put in a neat little box. They beat most of those teams handily and beat out of conference teams that were good. We barely beat mediocre teams and only two playoff teams. That’s utter bullshit to say the “only true qualification stat for the overall abilities of a roster is playoffs and who we played is irrelevant”. So beating the 49’ers during the regular season is no different than beating the Cardinals? C’mon dude. So barely beating Minn who had the 2nd worse defense in the league was a true stat for the abilities of our roster according to you. So what did it say when we got our asses handed to js against one of the best defenses in the league in the Eagles? I’ll tell you what it says, our offense was extremely overrated and who we played and how we won proved that. Normally you make some good points but you’re off your rocker today TEM.

No, they don’t have control over the schedule but they can control who they beat and how bad they beat them. Like most good teams they beat who they were supposed to with an occasion hiccup. I didn’t see those Patriots teams regularly barely beating scrub teams by single digits and shitting the bed against most playoff caliber teams. Well its interesting to know you put as much weight into beating one of the worst teams in the league as beating one of the best.

I never said winning doesn’t matter, we’re talking about gauging the skill level/talent of a team and with regards to that, it’s not as simple as just wining. Why do think Vegas put our O/U at 7.5 this year? There’s several reasons and I’ve already told you why. Who you play matters, how you win matters, how much you win by matters, who you add or lose matters. Apparently most people, outside of Giants optimists, didn’t have as much confidence in last year’s wins as they did. Hell, by your logic, barely beating the Jets without Rodgers says the same about how good a team is had they had Rodgers. I guess that’s why the line for the cowboys moved from -3 to -8.5 as soon as he for injured. Not saying the Jets can’t win but they’re clearly not as good without one of the best QB’s to ever play the game.

Last year, let's be honest. We weren't exactly convincing. You are what your record says you are, but how you win will speak a lot about consistency and how good you will be going into the future.

Do not be fooled by the sack numbers last week. Arizona does not have a good pass rush. Most of those sacks were the result of execution errors by Washington. No QB had more time to throw in week 1 than Howell.
But that doesn't mean our OL couldn't let a High School team get to our QB.
