Well, it would make sense on why the results changed dramatically in that game at the half. It was night and day...bol. If thats the case, then I would suggest Daboll let Kafka go when Seattle wanted him as their OC. If Dabs wants to take the play calling completely away from Kafka, what good is Kafka? I've always wondered what the Kafka would do in that case. The world seemed to think that the OC from the Chiefs deserved a HC job even though Reid was the play caller though. Perhaps making Kafka Asst HC is a way to give him some of those HC duties and free Dabs up to call plays.
In my mind we hired Dabs based almost exclusively because of his success calling plays for the Bills, let's keep him doing that.
The question is, can he do both? Be the play caller on offense AND the head coach?

I don't know if Daboll can do it honestly. On the other hand the offense was horrible last year, so can he afford not to try and call the plays?

And if you've already taken away play-calling duties from your current OC, there are real concerns.

An OCs job is much more than just play calling. That's true, but it's different if they were originally hired as a play caller. If that arrangement doesn’t cause any friction here, ok. I can’t imagine Kafka will be fine with not calling plays while he's trying to leverage a HC job.

If he is the Asst HC and does HC duties and we win he has a shot at getting a HC job.
Either way I don't really care, just figure out the roles that gives us the best chance to win.

I think that the dink and dunk is borne out fo the horrendous OL we still have. There aren't many plays when the QB can't even get to his 7 step drop without being pressured. Not letting Kafka off the hook but most would call plays that contemplate huge pressure on every pass play. That said, I am fine with Daboll calling the plays. I think it might get him more focused on the sideline and reduce the distractions. between the new coaches and player turnover, we simply don't know where our O Line will be this coming season. They were so damn bad last year, I almost can't imagine them staying at that putrid level...Doesn't mean they won't, but I think they will be significatnly better, maybe even pushing towards average play. hell, I'll take mediocre, lol... I can't imagine the line not improving next year but I've thought that most of the past decade to no avail.

I agree the 2nd half of the Cards game looked completely different. One thing that troubled me was how Hodgins played such a big part in the '22 season down the stretch. He also made key catches in that Cards game. For the most part however, in '23 he was the forgotten man. This despite adding Hyatt and Waller. Hodgins got open early and often with less weapons on the field once acquired in '22. Was this strategy or a product of the QB not seeing the field?
