Upgrade over A'shawn Robinson and Roches for sure so Solid Pick Up
at 31 obviously not a Long Term but you need Veterans around younger players too

He is good run stuffer. Something This defense has been missing. He is coming off a wrist injury that required surgery late in the season last year.

He was contemplating retirement last season from what I understand. I bet I know who his locker will be next to. Glass half full... ...he was a stud in college and its a warm body for DT depth.

You know what’s funny about this game?
If we win 10 games this year it means signings like this (maybe not this exact one) will look smart.
If we win 5, this will be viewed as why we suck, signing “nobody’s”.
Outcomes change perception. If Pete Carol’s pass from the 2 yd line is a TD then he’s a genius coach who takes chances that catches teams off-guard and he’s a back to back SB winner.
If it doesn’t work then he’s an idiot.
In reality he’s neither based on that play. But outcomes determine perception.
If Mahomes doesn’t exist, I think Buffalo has a couple SBs today with Allen.
But because he does exist, Buffalo is “searching for answers”. It doesn’t make Allen a QB who can’t get it done, it makes him a QB who can get it done, with one exception as an opponent.

Big, nasty guy who plays to (and sometimes through) the whistle. Likes to yap, has a particular dislike for the Eagles.

I was really hoping we were going to make a play to keep him. Not sure what we signed Phillips for, but I think Robinson signed a 3 year 21mil deal with Carolina, we totally could have coughed up the cash to keep him Ashawn was a run stuffer, while Phillips seems to be much more of a pass rushing DT

He's ok as a one-year stopgap.
DT is still a huge priority. I expect day 2 at worst.

Because neither of them can play OT? One foot in retirement. Coming off a late season injury. Probably not much left in the tank.

That being said, I can see us going after a DT in the draft this year. Ideally a pass rushing threat like Leonard Taylor from Miami or Braden Fiske from FSU

He was contemplating retirement last season from what I understand. Didn't we grossly overpay a LT from New England Who apparently had lost his stomach to compete? Not crazy about the general profile, but as the expression goes beggars can't be choosers.

I have no problem with this low cost depth signing.

I have no questions about heart or desire. Phillips has a high motor and gives 110% effort on every play. But it's a shame we couldn't originally sign Robinson to more than a year. It's possible we tried.

He's at the very least depth. Our run defense was one of the weakest in the league last year. He can only help, if he's no good and we can get someone better it will cost us nothing. The familiarity with him from Buffalo is a plus. They know what they're getting. So if they think he can help they should know better than anybody else to help our run defense.
