I think the factor will be the Pats. They have a terrible roster. If Daniels isn't available to them they may be ready to trade down and accumulate picks. My "guess" (and that's all it is) is they could be a potential trading partner with us. I would think Joe might be willing to trade up for Drake Maye. But I can't see us trading up for McCarthy. I don't even think we'd take him a 6. So I am suggesting that we either trade up to 3 for Maye, or sit tight at 6 and draft Odunze or Nabers. I really don't know what I'm hoping for. I am still in "trust mode" with Schoen and Daboll at this point. So I'll be happy with whatever they decide. Just curious but why do you think we'd be willing to trade up for Maye but the Pats wouldn't be willing to draft him where they are?
I don't feel confident in any prediction I make. It's very clearly a 50/50 shot whether we go QB or WR IMO. I think it'll be WR but wouldn't be shocked if we go QB. Schoens comment about "many teams are calling asking about 6" sounds like a person trying to get teams to trade up ahead of us. I just can't imagine this draft has four QBs go in the top 4.

All this talk of drafting a QB gets me thinking that this GM might be laying it all on the line for that decision........career maker or breaker. Very interesting to me.
I am all for trading down and giving DJ one more year. Our roster still sucks and we need bushels of talented bodies all over the place. Trading down a couple of slots for another #2 is appealing to me.
If DJ stays healthy and produces, we are much closer to being relevant because we didn't piss away so much draft capital on a 50/50 QB pick. (they all are) If DJ shits the bed, we are a top 6 or 7 pick again next year and we can roll the dice then imo.
Anyway, it is fascinating to watch a GM making this career calculus on a possible QB pick.
I am always excited at this time of year because it is the only time that we are undefeated and in first place. (tied)

Here's what I would do based on my limited knowledge of college players in the draft... 1. Take Rome Odunze, or the best WR at #6. 2. Use our first pick in 2025 to try to get ahead of LV and Denver and draft Michael Penix. That's what I would do. I think other than Caleb Williams, Penix is the best QB prospect in the draft. Short of that we might have to see if Drew Lock can run our offense. I don't think I can take any more of "Fire Drill Danny" as our QB. It looks like DC might draft Drake Maye. If they do I don't see any reason to trade up.

I'd be fine taking Penix or Nix if they drop to our pick in round 2, but would not want to give up additional draft capital to move up.

Maybe picking Penix at 6 and then drafting the best WR in the 2nd is our best option. Who knows? I no longer claim to be an expert of college QB's. 90% of my attention with college football is on the Montana State Bobcats. And I doubt that "Touchdown Tommy" Mellot will be on the Giants radar in 2025.

I would prefer to draft him over Mccarthy. I want Harrision bad but its not going to happen. The safe pick is Alt but they will go for a weapon in the passing game.

We're going to find out what Schoen really thinks about Jones in 3 days.
I am interested and excited to learn that once and for all.
There is no rhetoric in round 1/2 draft picks, only the reality of what the GM sees as our greatest needs and how they match up with value on the board.
For a team that has experienced so little success in a decade, this is the place I find enjoyable. I have to take what I can get.
