Johnson was SEC player of the year not an under the radar RB prospect.
PFF grade:
Johnson 79.8
Barkley 79.3
Johnson in 6 games: 69 carries 444 yards 6.4 YPC
Barkley in 7 games: 98 carries 481 yards 4.9 YPC

Giants 1-6
Barkley # 2 overall
Johnson # 43 overall

Decker, T.J Lang, Ragnow, Glasgow, Wagner
Vs
Solder, Hernandez, Pulley, Greco, Wheeler
Barkley would be a carve up behind that Lions line which is average

The right side was only Pulley Greco Wheeler 1 game, but definitely underwhelming. I liked Johnson too, but SQB is the better back. The problem was the value at pick #2 in a deep RB class. FYI, the Browns love Chubb right now. So did I. He would have been a very nice 2nd round pick as well.

Kerryon is a stud and that was well reported. The only concern with him is injuries. He has a hard time staying healthy and kinda has that upright running style. Really like his game though. Finally Detroit has someone who can get over 100 yards
That being said Saquon would be putting up disturbing numbers if the OL was average to above average

You can say it's speculation, you're right but its just a hypothetical, so I should re-word. I believe he would be carving up. Those good runs Kerryon has been producing, some turn into great runs if it was Saquon. Just my opinion. Put it on the flipside, Johnson is as good as Gallman running behind our line - similar player really. We have the worst, or one of the worst, offensive lines in the league in pass and run protections. I was a trade back fan though, purely for value. Would've been happy with KJ, Chubb or Jones. But was happy with Saquon, and I wouldn't trade him for anyone from that draft now. He will be the cornerstone of the franchise.

The Jaguars supposedly picked the best running back prospect since Adrian Peterson when they drafted Leonard Fournette fourth overall, however was he the best running back in the 2017 class? Nope. In fact I'd rank two backs ahead of him from that class and both were taken in the third round - Kareem Hunt and Alvin Kamara. There were reasons why these two backs were not mentioned in the same breath as Fournette, but despite that they have made a big impact since coming into the league, and that is great for them because they overcome the odds and have become star players. But does their emergence make the Jaguars decision to draft Fournette wrong? Yes and no. On the one hand, if Fournette stayed healthy and the Jaguars remained a winning football team, no one would question their decision from a year ago. However, Fournette is struggling with injuries and the Jaguars have not remained a winning football team. Their quarterback struggles have remained. So obviously people look at that decision and think... wait a second, we could have drafted Patrick Mahomes fourth overall and Karem Hunt with the 68th pick (Kamara went 67th), instead we have got Leonard Fournette and Dawuane Smoot. Understandably they are frustrated fans when seeing what the Chiefs are doing, but that is the benefit of hindsight. Did we make the wrong call selecting Saquon? No, I still believe that pick will go down as the right decision. However, maybe hindsight will ultimately show that we should have drafted Sam Darnold and Nick Chubb/Kerryon Johnson instead of Saquon and Hernandez, but no one has that crystal ball. They can't see the future. Every team passed on Tom Brady multiple times until the Patriots picked him in the sixth round. He is now regarded as one of the greatest of all time. Does that make every GM that passed on Brady an idiot? No, it just means that no one expected Brady to become the GOAT. It happens. So we shouldn't as fans be second guessing the selection of Saquon Barkley. We should be enjoying the player we have got and be hopeful that our front office can find other players that can help turn this team around. Yeah he is carving up. I rated him out of Auburn. But Barkley is electric. You can say it's speculation, you're right but its just a hypothetical, so I should re-word. I believe he would be carving up. But was happy with Saquon, and I wouldn't trade him for anyone from that draft now. He will be the cornerstone of the franchise. A RB should never be the face or "cornerstone" of a team, otherwise you will be losing a lot of games. In an ideal world the team's quarterback is the face or cornerstone of the team, however sometimes a team's best player or most vocal player (etc) plays in a different position. In our case we have an elite and outgoing wide receiver (OBJ) and a potentially elite running back (Barkley). When it comes to picking Eli's successor it is going to take a pretty big personality to outshine those two guys and become the face of the team, but is it not potentially advantageous for our next quarterback to be able to take a backseat to those big personalities so he can focus on his game? For years Joe Flacco got on with his business in Baltimore because everyone knew Ray Lewis was that team's spiritual leader. They also had Terrell Suggs and Ed Reed, two more big personalities and dominate players. Okay now you might argue that having a trio of dominate defensive players as the face and cornerstone of the team is better than a running back and wide receiver, but my point here is that Joe Flacco got a bit easier ride because there was no pressure to be the face of the team. No one expected that. All they expected was for him to get on with his business and be a good quarterback, and despite some of the criticism that has been thrown his way, he has had a good career with them. The reason a team loses games is not because the face of their franchise plays in a skill position, it is because they have significant issues in other areas that prevent them from being a winning football team. If a team has a poor O-Line and defense it is not going to win many games. Now I wouldn't disagree that the majority of Super Bowl winners tend to have a star quarterback, but teams have won Super Bowls and been regular play off contenders without having that star quarterback as the face of their face. As long as a team is well built they can have success. Another thing, do you consider the "face" or "cornerstone" as a singular player? I'd argue that the greatest and most successful teams often have a key core of players. For us we had some great players on those Super Bowl teams, and some of them were equally as important as Phil Simms and Eli Manning. So while a team ideally has a star quarterback, it not always about the quarterback alone, there are often other important players and leaders on those teams that were indispensable and without them those quarterbacks would not have rings to showcase.

2 generational talents? So we didn't need to burn a first rounder on a RB? In fairness...You didn't mention their receiving stats... Which would take away from ur point

there are obvious differences between Kerryon and Saquon....Injury history being one.
