I can practically guarantee that my Dad was one of the first ones to greet him in the afterlife, offering him up a cold beer. Ron was one of his favorites. RIP

Talk about a real real good running back running behind a real real bad Oline, Ron Johnson was a main reason why those dark years (from 65-80) had a few watchable years sprinkled in.
Sad day for the family, fans and franchise.
RIP.

I remember as a kid watching a game against the redskins and they were trying to strip the ball from Johnson.
My reaction was "Jeezus that isn't fair. Let him hang onto the ball!!".

To guys our age....Ron Johnson was the first real RB we ever had.
Fond memories from #30....especially that 6 game win streak in 1970.

Like many ( old timers ) He gave the Giants cred, when we did not have any. I consider Johnson ,Morris, Hampton, Bradshsw, Jacobs and soon to be Barkley. The best RB's in recent Giants history. OJ Anderson was here at the end of his career, but a major contributor.

RIP Ron Johnson. One of the first players I imitated playing neighborhood tackle football. I was heartbroken when he was lost for the season playing offseason basketball.

Didn't realize that he died of Alziemer's. That is awfully young.

No coincidence that the only 2 yrs in the 70s that the Giants played 500 or better ball were 70' & 72', the 2 yrs he rushed for over 1000yds.
