I am surprised they let Lugo throw 40 pitches in the 9th before he got the hook. That followed the Familia adventure in the 8th, in case we had forgotten the joy of it. Of course he's have been out of it if not for the error by Davis. Also no help to Lugo in the 9th. Seth is good pitcher . He did not have it yesterday. It was obvious he was struggling in the 9th. Why waste his arm . The entire Bullpen was fresh. Now he is most likely not available until Wednesday. Sometimes I do not get Callaway's thought process on his decisions. We won the game but there was a cost at the end of the game that was not needed.

I hated having to bring Diaz out there for 1 batter, that was wasteful too.

deGrom gets a homer. Who said the NL should go DH? I didnt see the game until after he was out, but all report are he was just insane last night. A new strikeout record of 14 Ks, and just filthy pitches all night. His 2019 ERA is 0.00 after 2 starts.

deGrom gets a homer. Who said the NL should go DH? Me If consistency's the goal, wouldn't it be easier to just return the junior circuit to tradition? Otherwise leave the differences between the leagues, it ain't hurting anyone.

I hated Edgar Martinez & Big Papi as they gave me nightmares for years on end, but no National League fan is going to convince me that the game of baseball is better with pitchers getting up at the plate, instead of a designated hitter batting in place of the pitcher.

That's cool, I completely get that. I feel similarly about the AL game. I have no objection to it but no AL fan would never be able to convince me that it's better.

deGrom gets a homer. Who said the NL should go DH? Me Well, in the past there was one very good reason for no DH in the NL - Bartolo Colón. Watching him try to hit was pure fun entertainment.

But to prove my point that baseball is much better with the DH, over lousy hitting pitchers batting under .150 collectively, I will. No way on earth is Bartolo's helmet falling off his head and his "Haley's Comet" home run in 2016 more exciting at bats than these two legendary Designative Hitters doing what they did best.

The pitcher is on the field . He should hit. It is baseball, that includes throwing, fielding and hitting for all players . You do not see the punter, kicker exempt from tackling the ball carrier.

You can't prove an opinion, bruh. Baseball isn't better with it, you prefer it that way and I understand you prefer the DH and that's cool. I don't hate the Dh, I'm just more traditional and prefer baseball with no DH.

Outlaw all the DESIGNATED kickers and punters out of football!!!!!

So how stupid are the MLB schedules? The Mets play a night game in Miami, then get delayed by a drug test, so they get home at 1 AM with a game starting at 1 PM the same day. THEN they have the next day off, in the middle of a series?
A reasonably smart person might say they should have had Thursday off, and had their home opener on Friday.
And the Yanks are off too, so no baseball in NY on a Friday?

And the Yanks are off too, so no baseball in NY on a Friday? Agreed.... Wednesday evening's Mets/Marlins game should've been a day game, and the drug tests afterwards?? In recent years, MLB has left the following day after Opening Day available in case of a rain out.

Just as if the QB throws a pick and has a line to tackle to interceptor . He is obligated to take a shot at him. I feel the same about pitchers. You have the balls to throw at a batters head. You should have the balls to stand up there and have one heaved at your noggin also.

If you're a firm believer in, "if you choose to be in the arena, then you should battle the lions also", then you should be in favor of eliminating all DESIGNATED kickers and punters from the game of football. If you have "the balls" to put a football helmet and shoulder pads on, then you should be out there for ALL FOUR downs. Not just the 4th.

Well of course hitters are gonna have better batting averages than pitchers, that seems like a objective fact to me. But what's the uphill climb part? The uphill climb part is favoring an inferior product by preferring to have pitchers hit, instead of a genuine MLB hitter in place of them. An objective that you admit to being a fact.

The only difference is the punter and kicker are obligated to hit the opponent to stop the ball from advancing. . It is not just kicking and punting .

There is no difference between a DH in baseball and a DESIGNATED kicker in football. None. And don't get me wrong, I'm not for getting rid of all DESIGNATED kickers and punters. The last thing I would want to see is a wide receiver trying to kick a 20 yard field goal. It would be just as ridiculous as watching a MLB pitcher up at the plate.
