I can see Jerry pushing for that. definitely John mara put the smack down on them a while back got them a big fine for salary cap violations during that uncapped year before the the last collective bargaining agreement was settled. I think that whole salary cap thing is fascinating. Obviously I do not know this to be true, but it sure looks like the owners colluded to honor the salary cap, even if it was not really in place. Since Jones and Snyder cannot come out and say that without getting the whole CBA thrown out, they kinda just had to take it.

Got a couple of mentions in the rookie mini-camp write-ups. we will see I think part of the agreement was that there was no wrong doing between any of the party's as far as the memorabilia thing goes, but I would think snyder and JJ will be hunting giants when possible.

I wouldn’t worry about Eli. This is how the sports memorabilia world works. The NFL has been implicit in this practice for years. I imagine they will set new rules and maybe police it closely but they will let this one die quietly so as not to have it blow back on them. Yea I read an article on this practice they're asked to produce more game worn stuff then there actually is,they actually sell the jersey's and helmets they worm up in on game day as game worn, don't know how true it is but that was in print somewhere read it a while ago when all of this first started. who gets all the profit from it..

But would the league really want to get involved in matters like this? Well they spent $4MM on deflated footballs and took Elliott all they way up to the circuit court of appeals so.............Yes I think so. Well I believe it was mentioned that the deflated footballs had something to with the integrity of the game. Tampering with the only non-wearable piece of equipment. Also, Elliot was accused of beating his girlfriend, which is a much more caustic topic. In the end, this was a civil trial with no arrest and didn't potentially affect the play on the field so I don't think anything is going to happen.

Teflon Eli isn't going to see ANY consequences.
A. Manning B. Civil case not criminal. C. Wasn't cheating D. It's a league wide issue that the NFL will not want to draw attention to.

Exactly ,his quote when they won the division think the year after they got penalized for the cap violation was we got those bastards when they beat the Giants, they can't lose enough for me but I'm that way with all the NFC east teams.

LOL the only strange thing about it is instead of it being twenty, pages the thread is actually changing from Eli to other things, while on the old board threads that had nothing to do with Eli would end up being about him, hopefully this trend continues a lot less Eli and a lot more other Giants info and opinions.

YA insinuated this was a league wide issue. The league might be best off cleaning up their act, instead of possibly opening a can of worms. If the league were smart, they would announce a new system for this kind of thing. THEY will administer the collection. They will certify it are genuine. And of course, they take a cut for this largesse. If they were really greedy, they would eliminate the middle men and sell the memorabilia themselves. I agree with this. They could eliminate all responsibility by hiring and outside firm to certify the merchandise.

But would the league really want to get involved in matters like this? Well they spent $4MM on deflated footballs and took Elliott all they way up to the circuit court of appeals so.............Yes I think so. Assume just for the sake of argument that Eli signed 2 helmets (that's what this whole kerfuffle ultimately boils down to, apparently--2 helmets) that were not actually worn during a game he played in: 1) Does that violate an NFL rule? 2) Did it potentially affect a game or any type of competition among NFL teams? 3) Did it artificially enhance his performance in a game? If the answers to these Qs are all "no", which I'm pretty sure they are, then why on earth would the NFL let itself become involved? I could see where the Giants org. COULD decide to discipline Eli on the basis of the "conduct detrimental to the team" option that all NFL teams have (which seems very doubtful, in my opinion), but I fail to see why the league would want to touch this. It's a civil matter, not criminal, and it's been heard before a judge and settled by all parties. It should be a dead issue at this point. I also don't see owners wanting to get involved in this at all. They all have their own player peccadilloes to deal with any given year, they don't want other owners sticking their nose in their family business, so most likely they turn a blind eye on this matter. Which leaves just bitter or jealous non-Giants fans. The league clearly pays no notice of what any of us want, so it's all good for Eli on this. From now on, he just needs to focus on earning his Comeback Player of the Year award, on his way to the 2018 post season.
