How on-fire Yankees can get even scarier. The Yankees are on a 114-win pace, which exceeds even the grandest predictions for this season. That emphasizes collective excellence. But which individual Yankees are exceeding expectations? For if a team were on pace to equal its greatest regular-season win total ever, you would think a bunch of their players were en route to their best seasons as well. But that mainly is not the case with these Yankees, making it possible they have an even higher ceiling. Which may be necessary to reach since the Red Sox are on pace for a franchise-record 110 wins. Can you imagine winning 100-plus games and being at the mercy of a one-and-done wild-card game? Read more. nypost.com/2018/05/22/how-on-fire-yankees-can-get-even-scarier/

Boone ejected for 1st time as manager. ARLINGTON -- Aaron Boone had to make the long walk to the visitors' clubhouse during the sixth inning of Tuesday's 6-4 loss to the Rangers at Globe Life Park, handing over the lineup card after being ejected for the first time as a big league manager. With Gary Sanchez batting against Texas starter Cole Hamels, home-plate umpire Pat Hoberg whirled toward the third-base dugout and tossed Boone, who stormed out for a brief but fiery tirade. Boone had chirped about a strike call on Sanchez, and said there had been other issues as the evening progressed. "At different points of the night, I had raised some things," Boone said. "I guess he had heard enough. Nothing really more than that. It wasn't anything too big." Read more. www.mlb.com/yankees/news/aaron-boone-ejected-for-1st-time-as-manager/c-277841914

We have a hand full of starters who can't hit their way out of a paper bag. ...Our second best starting pitcher from last year can't get ME out and the bull pen is decimated. Yet we're 33-15

Ugly loss tonight...
Reminded me of a vintage New York Yankees game from the 1980's. Lots of offense with absolutely no pitching.

I was at my golf league last night and played with a Yankee fan friend.....we went into the bar and saw that they were already up 3-0 and a said to him...."I have no idea how they ever lose"......"I told him they were going to win 105 games minimum. Friggin Yankees are stacked. If they don't win it all it would be a huge upset.

B-| Right now the Yankees have one Ace and a bunch of 4's & 5's in their starting staff. No 2's.. And David Robertson is having a very mediocre year so far. On a positive note, I am loving me some Gleyber.

This series proves the Yankees will need to trade for a pitcher. ARLINGTON , Texas — October is a long way away, but there was a valuable lesson to be learned by the Yankees with these three games at Globe Life Park against the Rangers. The Yankees are in desperate need for more quality starting pitching. It doesn’t get much uglier than the Yankees’ 12-10 loss to the Rangers Wednesday night, a game in which CC Sabathia was staked to a 4-0 lead. After that advantage turned into a 5-4 Rangers lead, the Yankees went back on top, 10-5, only to see it all disappear by the end of the sixth inning. This is not just about Sabathia. It’s about all three Yankees starters this series. There was no chainsaw, but this was a Texas massacre. None of the starters could make it to the sixth inning. Masahiro Tanaka (4.95 ERA) managed to squeeze out a victory in the first game of the series, but he lasted just five innings in a 10-5 win. What Greg Bird’s Yankees return could mean for Tyler Austin. What the Yankees do roster-wise on Saturday when first baseman Greg Bird is expected to be activated from the disabled list is up in the air. When they sent pitcher Ryan Bollinger to Double-A Trenton after Wednesday’s desultory 12-10 loss to the Rangers, the Yankees had twelve pitchers. They will not go below that number, so the move could be first baseman Tyler Austin to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, even though the right-handed hitter has eight homers and 23 RBIs in 28 games. Neil Walker’s ability to play multiple infield positions likely gives him the edge over Austin, who has minor league options. Bird went 1-for-5 with an RBI on Thursday for SWB against Pawtucket. In 12 minor league games, Bird is hitting .205 (8-for-39) with three homers and eight RBIs. With Bird expected to be activated Saturday, it’s possible he won’t play for SWB on Friday night. Originally drafted by the Boston Red Sux?? Oh please, be the next Gerrit Cole!!! One of Yankees’ risky draft plays is about to pay off. Stephan cuts the figure of a major league starter, a 6-foot-5, 225-pound specimen whose fastball bursts out of his hand. He throws aggressively and lives around the plate, a pitcher who “you get the feeling he legitimately doesn’t like hitters,” Reese said. He’s also a pitcher who was nearly a Yankees enemy. The Red Sox drafted Stephan, then at Hill (junior) College, in the 18th round in 2016, and Stephan’s mind was made up: He was going pro. “I told Arkansas I was going to sign. I was super close. I was ready to pull the trigger,” Stephan said. But the Red Sox haggled with first-round pick Jason Groome for months. They were consumed with trying to nail down their top prize, and they didn’t budge from their original offer to Stephan — who, just a few days before the signing deadline, chose Arkansas over Boston. “No regrets at all,” said Stephan, who said the Yankees have targeted 150 innings for him this year. Man, is Verlander unbelievable! If only Brian Cashman never signed Ellsbury. They might've traded for Verlander last August instead of Sonny Gray.
Uuuuuuuuugh....

Here's how the Yanks landed Judge in '13 Draft. Slugger, scouts, coaches recount rise from awkward teen to powerful prospect. Aaron Judge has become one of the biggest names in Major League Baseball, though his road to stardom was a long and winding one. From his time as a marginal prospect in high school to his selection by the Yankees in the first round of the 2013 Draft, Judge went through plenty of ups before emerging as the superstar you see today. MLB.com spoke with more than two dozen people who witnessed Judge's journey through the Draft process. They shared their memories of the Linden, Calif., native and his ascent through the amateur ranks. (Note: Although many of the people interviewed for this story currently have different titles -- in some cases, with different organizations -- the titles listed below represent their jobs during the period they are discussing.) If he gets hurt again they should part ways with him and call it a day.
