I never thought I'd see this in the 9th inning last night.. I don't even feel like going tonight!

Yeah he gave up an HR, but his ERA was actually lower than the combined of the pitchers before him ...lol

Oh well stuff happens. These teams are know for crazy series. Let Sox get it out of their system with the Gatorade tossed thinking theyve won, when theres another game tonight. This is true...

Home run or bust. They have been a bust these last two games and are pretty much done for the winter.

Stranding RISP. What else is new. What a joke that they are about to lose 2 straight in their house to end their season. What makes matters worse is that they are getting their asses handed to them. It isn't even close.

Not to throw in towel too early, but this last game and a half feels like a microcosm of the whole season, when they pulled away with the division in September

I would also add that the subpar starting pitching in this series is also a microcosm of the season. On another note, this Ron Darling guy has his head up Boston's ass.

Have to wonder with Yankees bullpen vs the weaker starters, why not do a devil Rays and go 2 innings each with Robinson, betances, and Lynn? That gets us thru 6 in what I'd think is better shape than where we are now. Then we take it from there who to bring in next. CC came up small last year in game 7 vs Astros and I just don't see the how a lefty is a good call against red Sox line up anyway, unless of course he's a true ace

Stanton of course is the only one to strike out in that entire wild bottom of the 9th. He watched one pitch right down the middle and swung at 3 balls.

Well it was close. Gleybor seemed cold in post season. No hard feelings, red Sox earned it. They won't get by Astros though imo

Well that was stressful.......... Congrats MH. Good luck the rest of the way. Honestly...I hate playing the Yankees. The bats keep coming. Don't know how we won games 1 or 4.
But thank you G. Yanks are tough and I'm glad they aren't out there anymore this year.

I will give him a pass. He will get better with more experience. Stanton was the real buzz kill. Kimbrel clearly did not have his fastball at the moment and there was Stanton swinging at 2 sliders in the dirt and a fastball almost over his head.

Pretty classless for the red Sox to mock New York in their locker room while celebrating their win.

You've been pushing that narrative all year and it's nonsense. He said he would only not exercise his no-trade clause with 4 teams, all of them contenders. That's how he ended up a Yankee. He put up good #'s this year. If he didn't perform well enough in post season, it's because he was trying too hard, not that he cared too little.

I can tell you as a Sox fan that I was much happier when Stanton was up there in the 9th than I was with Judge, Sanchez or even one of those kids.
Those guys know how to grind out an AB. Stanton waves at bad pitches. Once he swung at that slider in the dirt for strike two...I knew he was done.

And I'm not knocking the Yanks. I'm just pointing out the problems with Stanton. Can you guys actually say he's the guy you want up in a huge spot?

"he's happy collecting his $30MM and going home at the end of September." " exactly what you said in your previous post, and youve been saying all year. And if theres anyone you need to be concerned about not performing in the big spots its kimbrel; dude was a mess last night, and even in game 1 got jacked for an HR

Stanton is a guess hitter. He clogs up the DH spot and money. We also need starting pitching, sevy came up small again this postseason.

But he's moving on to the next round. He grinded out the outs without his control. Obviously when he's throwing his curve for a strike he's damned tough. He was missing with the breaking ball but it wasn't like he was all over the place with it. Yanks have some disciplined hitters and he will struggle more against teams like that.

Sox pen gave up 7 runs in 17 innings but they did enough. Houston’s bullpen is a mess too. That series should go 7.

Here is the list of their prominent relievers: Will Harris: 5-3, 3.49 ERA, 64 K, 56.2 IP Josh James: 2-0, 2.35, 29 K, 23.0 IP Collin McHugh: 6-2, 1.99, 94 K, 72.1 IP Ryan Pressly: 2-1, 2.54, 101 K, 71.0 IP Tony Sipp: 3-1, 1.86, 42 K, 38.2 IP Roberto Asuna: 2-2, 2.37, 32 K, 38.0 IP, 21 SV

The Astros will be bringing staters out of the pen like they did last year.

The Astros will be bringing staters out of the pen like they did last year. Perhaps. However, with the quality of their SP, which also has the best ERA in baseball, they won't be asked to do much.
