One of the dumbest deals this franchise could ever do. Absolutely horrible. We just gave up top prospects for a 36 year old guy who is doing PEDs to sustain his career and a closer, who although is good, will have limited chances to close because of an inept offense. Giving up prospects is the dumbest thing in baseball. You have to build from within. That's why the Red Sox are so good. Betts, Benintendi, etc all came up from the farm system. Look at the Braves, Royals, and Astros too. So sick of this franchise trading for older veterans who are past their prime. Now we once again will have an infield with limited speed and subpar defense, coupled with massive questions marks at catcher and in the outfield. So stupid.

I agree....I’d like to add the Braves were cheating to sign international players so i’d Say they know you have to let them develop first and you can have sustained success. Look at the Mets with Harvey,DeGrom and Syndergaard you have to build from within. The Mets are cheap or take half-ass measures we still need a catcher and a CF.

Don't you get the sense that every GM in baseball is licking their chops to take advantage of this FO?

Don't you get the sense that every GM in baseball is licking their chops to take advantage of this FO? I have to disagree, the prospects were all maybes, they kept McNeil, got a great young closer, shedded Bruce and Swarzak, Cano is still a good player and his contract isn't horribly unreasonable minus 20 mil, and the new GM actually got the Coupons to open their wallets. By the way, Noah.isn't leaving and Realmuto may be on the way. I am bullish about the goings on.

Too long at the whipping post and all....I', more than willing to support your optimism and give the new FO more of a fair chance. But man, I do not like Cano as a player at all. Him and Cespedes on the same team doesn't make me feel all that confident. Team could get hot and play well or I could just as easily see these guys half passing everything, missing time due to nicks and generally just cashing their paychecks.

This is how I view this trade. In two parts.
1. Cano for Bruce & Swarzak. 2. Diaz (one of the best closers in MLB) for Justin Dunn, Jarred Kelenic & Gerson Bautista.
Win/win for the Mets who are in it to win "now".
PS: Your new GM is not finished this winter.

With the exception of the PED suspension in 2018, where he returned from it hitting over .300, just look at the histories between Cano and Cespedes. Cespedes went from one team to another because he wore out his welcome, and Cano who was only traded once and that was because the Mariners are in sell/tank mode. Cespedes can't hold Cano's jockstrap.

I am aware of their numbers. I just don't like the kind of players they are.
I was happy when he left the Yankees and I ain't too happy seeing him back.
He's on the team I root for so I'll be rooting for him, just as I do Cedpedes. Doesn't mean I love their game.

That is not what the Owner GM and Coach conveyed on Francesca the other evening. That question was brought up . They all said he ( the GM) spoke with Noah and told him. He is part of the long term goals of this team going forward. Not one indication of them trading him . In fact the GM stated it is a media born rumor with no substance behind it.

If a package for Realmuto needs.to include Nimmo, so be it. Sounds like they want a lot for him. I’d have to see what they want in total before deciding. It aint like this team just needs a final piece or anything. They’re still a couple of years away

I don't care what was said in a public conversation between 4 idiots. I'll take my information from someone who works inside the building and hears what is NOT said to the media.
