Trevor Siemian is now 3rd.
Good for Davis. He seemed like a good kid and hard worker.

Rooting for him. I think he got a raw deal here with the new regime.

Slow down, It's because McCown retired. He may have improved, but let's not act like his move up the depth chart was performance based

Siemian was definitely signed to be the backup. So this is actually a slightly big deal.

You mean Siemian who only joined the Jets in March and Webb was there last year. No I think the slotting was correct. McCown retired next man up and that was Webb based on tenure with the team.

That guy. You're spot on.
And you may have not gotten the memo that the Jets have a brand new coaching staff and a new scheme. So everyone is in the same place.

He was on the practice squad last year while Siemian started 24 games the last 2 years. Seems like a good thing to me.

Oh, I got the memo. I am not the one proclaiming someone has gotten a job based on performance when training camp has not even opened. Makes a lot more sense that they slotted it 1. Darnold 2.Webb 3.Siemian just based on tenure with the team going into training camp them some other imagined performance that may or may not have occurred.
But you go ahead and believe what you want. I like to deal with quantifiable facts

We'll see who is what by the end of camp...
Maybe Landon Collins does know what he's talking about. ..Gettleman should be taken to task if we got rid of Davis over Wrong Way Lauletta

I really wish we got to see Webb play a few games back in 2017. The kid "looks" the part. And his games in college look good too. I thought he would be at least Eli's backup at worst if we didnt change GMs and coaches.

Not sure why this is worth arguing about for you but this is America....so go for it.

This makes sense to me simply because I can't imagine any team making any meaningful decisions based on OTAs.

I think you kinda have to squint hard to see it as not something performance based. You bring in a guy who has started games, you are looking for an experienced back-up...you move him to #3, you are saying something.

Suppose Siemian was late to meetings, horrible in practice...maybe he got moved to #3 without Webb ever throwing a pass. We all want it to be about Webb excelling, but that may not be so.

Performance based can also mean when choosing between scratched and dented merchandise, go with the cheaper one.

Just interesting to contemplate since he was with us at one time. We could of course ask for indisputable proof that he was moved to #2 as a product of his great play in practice.
But...Is it really that important?

Darnold gets hurt....Webb comes in and lights it up like Aaron Rodgers and we had our QB of the future all along that would be tragic but oh so New York Giants lol

Siemian was a pretty lame starter, but he has a good amount of experience in a number of offenses. Webb beating him out certainly is a good thing for him. Would have been terrible if he couldn't after a year of being with the team.

Also Siemian is a bum and is not worthy of a roster spot in the CFL....worse starting QB I have ever watched play in the NFL

He's a solid back up actually.

No question Sieman is better than Webb. Webb couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn with his passes. I never seen any QB in the NFL miss his receivers so constantly and badly as Webb......the Giants correctly saw the same thing.
