We should have Sterling back in a few weeks, and Tate is only missing the first 4 games. I'm hoping they don't do anything drastic, let some of the other guys vying for a spot get more reps. That can only help us in the long run.

The guy is terrible. Can't run routes, slow and bad hands. Other than that he's a peach.

Apparently he might be available for a 6th or 7th rounder.
In college he was never a burner by ANY MEANS, he was a route runner with good hands and body control
"ANALYSIS STRENGTHS Good height and overall length. Smart receiver with a competitive edge when the ball is in the air. Catch-winner. Has a natural feel for the nuances of the position. Has feel for defender and is careful to work back to throws while shielding cornerbacks from the ball. Hands catcher with adequate body control who can climb the ladder and high point catches over defenders. Truly shines with ball-tracking skills and rarely gives away location of the ball with early movements when racing downfield against cornerbacks. Has subtle shiftiness in his routes thanks to his clean footwork. Can stagger and stutter feet while still working through his routes. Zone eater who has great understanding of positioning in space and giving his quarterback cleanest throw possible. Uses quality stiff arm after the catch for additional "RAC" yards. Willing to block, but has size and temperament to become much better at it. WEAKNESSES Doesn't have the cushion-eating, vertical speed to scare cornerbacks. Cornerbacks will crowd his underneath routes from off-man coverage. Benefitted with several easy catches in space against zone coverage. Struggled to free himself from press coverage against LSU's Tre'Davious White and may have separation issues in pros against quick cornerbacks. Takes time to gear down into breaks once he gets speed up. Could stand to be more physical in his release against press. Had more focus drops in 2015 than over previous two seasons. Suffered season-ending injury in November of 2014 with broken fibula and dislocated ankle. DRAFT PROJECTION Round 1 SOURCES TELL US "He's going to get beat up because he's slow but I like everything else he does. You would think scouts would learn about overestimating speed and underestimating tape. He'll go in the first but not sure how high." -- AFC Southeastern scout NFL COMPARISON DeAndre Hopkins BOTTOM LINE Like DeAndre Hopkins, both players should be defined by their talent, ball skills and consistency of production over pure speed numbers. Treadwell is at his best when he has a clean, two-way go off the line of scrimmage and he could be a challenging size matchup from the slot. While Ole Miss used him underneath quite a bit, he runs quality downfield routes and has the ball skills needed to become a more vertical receiver than underneath, possession guy." - Lance Zerlein, nfl.com

It's always a red flag when a team wants to get rid of a player. Either they aren't very good, or their attitude has run its course. Buyer beware with Treadwell, plus he's terrible.

"NFL comparison......DeAndre Hopkins?
Was this guy drunk when he wrote this?
He missed his 1st year with an injury this is from sbnation.com " So what gives?
Well after watching him on film, I honestly can’t say.
I mean just strictly from the film, the guy runs good routes, he has good hands, he’s physical AF, he hustles his ass off, and he still blocks like a fullback. Hell, I loved the way he came back to the quarterback at the end of his routes last year. That’s the kind of little thing that young players usually don’t do and end up allowing defenders to sneak in front of them for interceptions or pass breakups.
Treadwell was doing all the little things that you expect of savvy veteran receivers. But he still wasn’t getting a lot of burn, or seeing a lot of targets.
Predicting the next breakout star for all 32 NFL teams Retired NFL defensive end Stephen White has been grinding tape all summer to figure out which players are poised for a big leap forward in 2018. Who’s your team’s breakout player?
I realize the Vikings have other receivers who are pretty good too, like Stefon Diggs, who just signed a big deal, and Adam Thielen, who just had a career year. But I really am not sure either of those guys are that much physically better than Treadwell. They do happen to get more playing time and the ball thrown their way a lot more than he does, however. That Diggs and Thielen play well and make the most of their opportunities might be one reason why the Vikings don’t want to rock the boat by using Treadwell more, but I would think there has to be more to the story than that.
There is also the chance that while it looks like Treadwell is playing well, he’s actually running the wrong routes or doing the wrong assignments. I don’t have any way of finding out whether that’s true because I don’t have the Vikings’ playbook, but all I can tell you is that if Treadwell is running the wrong routes, he’s at least doing it at 100 miles per hour.
I wasn’t as high on Treadwell coming out in 2016 as some other folks were because I had questions about his route running, his explosiveness coming off a broken leg, and his ability to catch the football consistently. All those questions have been answered watching his tape from last year. He gets off the jam like it’s nothing now, he looks good coming out of his breaks, and the guy catches pretty much everything that gets thrown to him.
And then there is the hustle.
This kid still goes balls-to-the-wall on every play, whether he’s blocking on a running play or trying to run over somebody after he has made a catch. The kind of energy Treadwell plays with is inspiring and it definitely stands out when you watch his film. If he is messing up on the mental side of things, it just seems like there has to be a way to help him with that when a guy is giving you everything he has on every play.
Again, maybe there are things that you can’t see on film that are holding Treadwell back. Maybe he doesn’t practice well. Maybe he has trouble with the playbook. Hell, maybe he doesn’t get along with the coaches, I don’t know. What I do know is on film he looks very capable of being one hell of a wide receiver for the Vikings right now. I believe the more they play him this year, and the more Kirk Cousins throws the ball to him, the more Treadwell is going to shine." www.sbnation.com/2018/8/22/17653194/nfl-breakout-players-2018-laquon-treadwell-vikings-wide-receiver-draft

Same goes for Antonio Brown. Look at the back of their football cards and you would ask yourself. "Are these teams stupid?" Guys get traded for many reasons. But usually something is not right. As for Treadwell, he's done nothing so far in his young career. Why would the Vikings trade a young player who's still on his rookie deal? Some general managers will think their culture will fix what ails him. Some others wouldn't touch him with a 10' poll. I say we stay the hell away from this kid.

The hype about him was before he had a knee injury. He had a down last season at Ole Miss and still figured out how to do just enough at the combine to warrant being taken in the first round. Fact He lost enough in his game where he can't get separation at this level. We are not that desperate, yes we are weak at WR but why again throw assets at a band aid on a lepper for a team that is in a full rebuild and would only take away snaps from players that could actually be good if given enough work.

The Vikings throw it all over the place. The kid simply can't get open and on the rare occasions he does, he can't catch it. And it's in his head. He's weak. then he struts around the locker room like he's a star.
He's Odell....without the talent. He's a complete bust and he's not even good for the locker room. the only reason he lasted three years is because he was a 1st round pick. I doubt he'll be on the team by season's start.

He may be the single worst WR in the NFL....AND he has a cocky attitude. I agree - wouldn’t touch this guy with a 10 foot pole. Hated him when he was in a he draft and he has been a complete bust. Be honest Were you legit concerned that we would take him at 10 in 2016? I sure as hell was. At least we got a 4th for our pick

Except that he's been in the league for 3 years.
He is god-awful. He is absolutely terrible.
You know how to tell a good WR?.......He catches a lot of passes for a lot of yards and a lot of TD's.
This guy has caught next to nothing. He averages 12 yards per game in 40 games. And he's caught a grand total of ONE TD.
And, the word is he acts like a superstar in the locker room.
The guy is a nightmare.
But this article was written last August, not when he was getting drafted We ARE that desperate if people are calling for Cruz and Nicks to come out of retirement. Hell even Kelvin Benjamin didnt show up to his visit, at this point we throw a bunch of shit at the wall and see what sticks

... I can also read the stat line, pretend i watch enough Vikings game to make a sound opinion, then post it on a Giants board You got any articles to back up your assumption?? Im not saying hes gonna warrant his 1st round pick, but for a 7th its worth a shot, our WRs are laughable after Latimer Kase....he can't play. They have given him every chance.
Any proof or you just going off the cuff??? You claim all tbis locker room stuff, but where do u get your information from??

Apparently he might be available for a 6th or 7th rounder. In college he was never a burner by ANY MEANS, he was a route runner with good hands and body control "ANALYSIS STRENGTHS Good height and overall length. While Ole Miss used him underneath quite a bit, he runs quality downfield routes and has the ball skills needed to become a more vertical receiver than underneath, possession guy." - Lance Zerlein, nfl.com We had 2 5th round picks and 2 7rh round picks. If Shurmur wanted him . He would already be on the team.

Should we trade for him? Vikings want to get rid of him and he worked with Shurmur. He may be the single worst WR in the NFL....AND he has a cocky attitude. Otherwise, what's your problem with him?

Thats like saying every player thats ever been a free agent or traded, because if they were any good the team would have kept them the duration of their career Beckham got traded, he's a great player why was he available? Same goes for Antonio Brown. Look at the back of their football cards and you would ask yourself. "Are these teams stupid?" Guys get traded for many reasons. But usually something is not right. As for Treadwell, he's done nothing so far in his young career. Why would the Vikings trade a young player who's still on his rookie deal? Some general managers will think their culture will fix what ails him. Some others wouldn't touch him with a 10' poll. I say we stay the hell away from this kid. Kahlil Mack?
