Yeah, I watched a lot of that game last night and Paul Guenther blitzed Murray heavily. Not sure if they were trying to send Murray/Kingsbury a "welcome to the NFL" message, but you could see a major struggle. Murray ended up getting sacked for a safety and Kingsbury at that point decided to pull him from the game. Yeah, outside of his first pass play when he forgot to motion the TE over to protect his left side, Jones did not face much pressure. Gallman saved Jones big time from getting leveled, even then, the pocket got tight and Jones was still able to deliver an accurate pass. He must have been thinking, "This a walk in park compared to the pressure I faced at Duke.". Jones was getting it out fast what happens when the first read or first couple are covered he showed he has accuracy and anticipation but will he still when a wrench is thrown in. Should be interesting even tho he won't see front liners tonight Nagy did a full 60 minute scrimmage inter squad this week he doesn't like pre season. yep...want to see Jones when things break down quickly to see how he reacts.

I liked Jones not saying he was perfect but he faced a ton of adversity from the broken arm during recruiting season in high school to playing on an under manned college team, with that said Grear was up there for me, Stidham has all the tools and I think with a couple years to learn might be one of the best to come out of this class, Finley is a smart choice he showed good decision making skills and he has a good enough arm and he's a good athlete. In the end I would have been happy with anyone of them including Drew Lock. I do trust Shurmur and Shula and DG with this decision tho they have all coached and seen some real good QBs in there day they know what one looks like. heard on the radio this morning that Drew Lock never had to say anything in the huddle. That all the ques came from the side line. As an NFL scout/GM I would not be a fan of that at all. NOt sure how true that statement was but it was said on the Boomer/Gio show. Think your right but it was the same for Baker and Murray. I am no expert for sure but what I do believe in more then ever is scheme fit when drafting your QB the old NFL had them in a box 6'5" 220 strong arm blah blah blah. Now they factor in so much more scheme ball placement think Shurmur and Shula had a lot of say in this draft choice as they should they have to coach him and win with him if they can't they are out of jobs.

I don't think any QB is great when it is really fast but some can at least salvage the play thats what I would like to see ,he has been prepared playing at Duke for pressure lets see tho in the NFL with NFL corners and linebackers chasing him down. There is gonna be an adjustment to what he could get away with up here.

I was shocked at how comfortable he was under center since he didn't do that at Duke looks like a quick learner we will see as it gets more complicated.

They had Eli roll out on a play and kept Jones in the pocket...lol

I don't want to see him run a bunch but if it keeps the defense honest go for it just hopefully he will be smart about it.

None of the QBs in the 2019 class did anything for me. Murray was a wild card, but Baker Mayfield was the much better QB in that system. Haskins to me was Ben Roethlisberger ish, but didnt have that deep ball accuracy, which is a huge downgrade because Ben is great at the deep ball. Jones I didnt think could consistant hit his target and make the right decisions. I actually liked Grier some. I know his system was a huge reason for his numbers but I liked what he could do with the ball. Time will tell. Also, how about Ryan Finley? Any of you see him? His stats were pretty solid last night. Who you kidding? Eric Dungey Is all world in The Analyst home. Well of course! Dungey will eventually find a home and win more Superbowls that Brady and Montana combined. He will get the nickname, Montady. Or Brantana. All seriousness, I didnt think Dungey could make it in the NFL due to his health. He could never stay healthy and already had multiple concussions. That's my boy though. I appreciate everything he did for the Orange.

If that's true, that would scare the hell out of me. Also explains why he fell so far in the draft. I wasnt a big fan of Lock though.

And when his first and second option are covered tight. Is that when he uses his legs and runs the ball? Or does he scramble buy time and keep his eyes downfield? That's what we didnt see in week 1 I'm hoping we see in week 2.

That in it's self is a big deal they can't force him one side we still need to see it in game tho.

Haskins flashed promise last night. Called out the blitz on his deep throw. Lots of other things that just need to be cleaned up.
He's big and tough. The game doesn't seem to rattle him. he just needs the reps.

Yea unfortunately they just played a 60 minute simulated game against each other, to protect there starters I would say so they might not see them very long at all tonight.
