So we certainly shouldn’t be getting out the anointing oils at this point, but I did start the wonder - has a QB come in and looked as good as Jones has and then turned out to be a bust?
I suppose the real question is, “is there any meaning to his start’?

Dunno how he looked in the preseason but Ryan Leaf looked all world his first 2 starts as a rookie in the NFL......
I'm not going to count RG lll because Shanahan destroyed his career making him play on a partially torn ligament that blew up in the playoffs...

I cant remember a good nfl QB looking this good out of the gate. (throwing and mechanics wise) nevermind a bad one. One never knows for sure but id put my money on not a bust from what we have seen in camp and preseason so far.

I think Blake Bortles looked legit in the preseason. I'd say he is a bust.

I don't remember Mark Sanchez in preseason but he did look pretty good in his first two seasons. Sure he made mistakes, but he bounced back from them and they won a good share of games. I thought Ryan and the Jets did him no favors in helping him develop.
And not to change the subject, but how many times would fans tell us that we would be in quarterback hell after Eli? It sure is not looking that way.

And I said this isnt the 90's , kids are coming out very athletic, we should be fine.

Meh...I'm not saying he would have been great, but Shanahan certainly cost RGIII dearly.

This involves some serious thinking. Would love to help but the brain clocked out at 3pm today. Get back at me at 7am tomorrow.

Classic example of a qb that had to be hidden behind a great defense and run first, second and limit his attempts to 20 or under, that was always exposed by Super Bowl caliber teams when the Jets got down by 2 scores or more...

All i would hear is how we wil suffer like the 70's or 90's and dave brown and yada yada yada

And again has nothing to do with fans thinking we would be in QB hell after eli retired.

this sounds crazy but i was almost glad for the fumbled football (well one time anyway lol) if only it took jones back down to earth and at the same time he played really well outside of his rookie mistakes. had he been 11 for 11 and perfect again id actually be more worried cause thats in the "too good to be true" realm. i dont think hes too good to be true, i just think hes good.

You were hoping Jones played poorly, so you would then realize it isn't all a dream?

I’ll admit Rosey that I was one of the people that were and kinda still is (he has looked good don’t get me wrong) saying we’ll be in QB hell after Eli not because I’m a homer but because statistically going from one franchise QB to another usually takes time. I mean look at how long it took the giants between Simms and Eli

I suppose the real question is, “is there any meaning to his start’? He’s facing 2nd and 3rd teamers. Look up stats guys like Mike Glennon, Brett Hundley, Ryan Finley, Matt Barkley are putting up in these games. It’s better then him sucking, but it’s like minor league football. Borderline meaningless. And he has 2 turnovers in a 1/2 of work. When he gets in real games his career begins. Rest of this is TBD training ground stuff. Can’t be analyzed.
