Odell Beckham is long gone from the Giants but is still talking about Big Blue. And the star receiver insists the only reason they shipped him to Cleveland had nothing to do with sports and everything to do with spite.
“This wasn’t no business move,” Beckham said. “This was personal. They thought they’d send me here to die.”
Beckham — who made the comments to Sports Illustrated — was popular within the Giants locker room. He even said he and longtime quarterback Eli Manning were “cool” despite the fact that they didn’t “hang out outside” of football. But he clearly had a rocky relationship with the front office.
Beckham is convinced the Giants willingly rejected better offers just to send him to the heretofore-hapless Browns. Out of spite.
Beckham went on to say that when he got a call from Giants GM Dave Gettleman on his way to a restaurant in Paris, he didn’t even want to answer because he already knew it meant he was getting dealt. He says stars usually get some input in where they’re getting sent, but in a conversation that only lasted seconds, he got none.
The tempestuous receiver spoke his mind while he was playing in MetLife Stadium, and Beckham’s words have only grown harsher since the Giants shipped him out in March. He certainly hasn’t held his tongue.
In the Sports Illustrated piece, Beckham said the Giants coaches really only looked for him on third down and the predilection for running slants was so predictable that opponents were calling out his routes pre-snap.
In short, Beckham lamented that Big Blue’s offensive scheme didn’t really take advantage of his abilities, and that they’re “stuck in an older mindset.” Then he added that he wasn’t taking “shots — just speaking facts.”

Again with this guy? The crazy ex who claims to have moved on.
Giants should just send Odell a lifesize picture of Gettleman so he can just yell at it.

Teams to send the players you hate to (in no particular order): Cardinals Raiders Bills Browns Jets Dolphins Jaguars Redskins
Whether you like to surf, ski, or just sit home and watch TV, whether you like the a big city or middle America, there's a losing team for every pain in the azz player to go and play out their career.

A number of Giants (DeOssie, Gallman and Fowler) have already responded to Odell's comments, saying they don't care what he has to say.
Evan Engram called Mayfield's comments dumb and defended Jones.
Lots of bizarre Giants-Browns drama right now, coming mostly from the other end.

As a Giants fan, I am finding all of these antics by OBJ very amusing now.
If I were a Browns fan, I am very pissed we acquired a player with no respect for the team, the city or the fan base based on the comments he has made since being traded.

I would think OBJ would want to do his talking on the field with his new team. His awesome play would speak volumes. Imagine if he doesn't have a stellar year with Cleveland? I guess somehow the Giants would be to blame in some capacity.

I'm not saying DG traded with Clevelanddid for that reason, but I bet he smiled a bit about it. Which is exactly what OBJ meant by "sent me here to die.". He will die of boredom.

He is just mad because they didn't send him to Cali.

This guy has serious mental issues. He is a narcissist of the highest order.
Imagine believing that the Giants turned down a better deal just so the could banish him to Cleveland?

I agree with what Carl from CMB said today. The giants took the best offer on the table. There are only four teams that giants would’ve said no to if they did make a better offer. Those being the cowboy eagles redskins and jets.

The town of Cleveland sounds like a dangerous place. They have a lunatic living their part-time that is stalking an X employer that made him very rich 95 million dollars rich sounds dangerous to me.

Odell really needs to shut up and stop whining. The Giants traded him. He needs to move on already and focus on his current team.

Its like oxygen for him. He will do what it takes to have his name in "lights" on a regular basis. This has more do with that then him crying over being traded. If it wasnt this he would be in the news for something else.
