Kurt Warner, you know nothing about QBs. Hold the negativity! I'll just keep on listening to Billy Garbola of the SoAndSo Times who said Jones looks like the next Marino thank you very much. Take that to the bank! Garbola knows his stuff.

Is this a recent quote? Seems like I saw this same quote months ago He was previously compared to a backup QB, then it progressed to Tannehill after the draft. Preseason prediction has promoted him to the level of Dalton now. Lets see what the season brings if DJ gets a chance to play. Imagine being Tennehill and now you are the example of a QB that will prob not be very good. That must suck....

Going to be a hell of a season! I can just see this board after Eli throws his first TD interception!

It’s not like he compared him to Andy Griffith. Read the quote, he actually likes Andy Dalton as a QB and thinks Jones could be good if not better. But he feels Jones and Dalton don’t have that “special throw” for whatever that means. Hey, that’s part of the business, everyone isn’t going to ride your jock and say you’re the best. Go out there and prove everyone wrong!

Well, we'll find out soon enough who's right about the kid. To be honest though, the NFL, and the requirements for QBs are very different now than even when Warner was playing.
Teams are much better at building the team around the strengths of their QBs now. I mean, look at BAL, they (so far) have found a winning formula with a guy that barely threw the ball.
Lots of different ways a QB can help a team win now.

I'd compare Jones to Danny White. Can he punt? he has pooch kicked in college.

At the end of DJs career .
It will boil down to 2 things
How well the Giants are at placing the right players around him.
How well DJ can overcome the difficulties associated with the position.
Nothing myself, any TGB members, The talking heads, Former NFl players can predict, speculate or conjure up. Will change the outcome of those two hard stone contingencies.

People who are saying Eli to Jones is the same as Warner to Eli, are not taking into account the fact that Warner was a journeyman QB at that point and Eli is a Giants legend. Eli was also the first pick and we gave up a lot to get him.

I like Kurt but . He is not Nostradamus. None of us are. Let see how he plays before he is a bust or has his bust made. I do not understand how after 2 preseason games some can tell his greatness or lack of. I wish I was that good at prediction . I would use my talent to winning the lottery everyday. Not wasting it being the oracle of QBs

Wasn’t he a stock boy at a grocery store? And an arena football guy. Unless it's another case of an interview that was conducted a few months ago that's now being published, like Baker boy's hatchet job.

He's been sour about the Giants since he got benched for Manning. Maybe if he didn't mess up his thumb and fumble away so many balls he would have won in New York. Cris Carter is just as salty for the NFC Championship where we shut them out. Chris Canty joined the list recently too.

I think Jones is having a very impressive rookie pre-season. He looks poised and in control on the field. Once they brought in Tanney and Lauletta yesterday you could really see the difference (and I thought Lauletta played quite well, not so much for Tanney).

It just doesnt make sense to me for him to do that. He has never been a spiteful person. I highly doubt he "knew nothing of the pick" and followed all the other "dopes". Guys like Michael Irvin or Chris Carter or Skip and Shannon I can agree with you on that, but Kurt Warner isnt one of those "dopes". I really hope he is wrong in his analysis however. And from the 1st 2 games I saw, and what I heard last night (Ill watch it today), it seems like he is doing everything he can to prove the haters of the pick wrong, including myself.

So what would Warner have said about Eli in HIS first year? Remember how awful he was?
It's laughable. As TEM said above, he is not Nostradamus. Nobody knows how things will play out.
But I DO know this. The Giants have NEVER had a rookie quarterback look this good right out of the box. Not ever.

Most fans do not see the first as a metric of QB success or failure. It is in full furthered display every day on this site. With plums of clueless contempt puffed out for all to see.

Well......I guess that's that then. Too bad. I had such high hopes for him. May as well fire Gettleman and start the new process now. So...........ah , what QB you want in the 2020 draft? Can Eli re-declare?

Someone ask Warner if he ever imagined getting pulled in 2004 for a rookie?

Kurt isn’t a dope but he went along with the dopes He watched the same clips as everyone else and came up with a scattershot analysis that fed into the same narrative He later spoke very highly of Jones. The initial reaction to Jones on all sides was pretty much entirely extreme. Negative and then over-positive reacting to the negative.

All the "experts" didnt think he was worth a 6, and thought he would be available at 17. But no one will ever really know that, and you cant wait on a QB if he is your guy.
