Can we all agree that Andrew Adams is the starting safety? He keeps playing pretty solid football, did a good job on a success 2016 defense, and yet still has to fight for the starting spot with Thompson who seems to have permanently disappeared since his foot injury in the opener two years ago.

I wouldn’t be surprised he doesn’t make the final 53 roster. He was drafted by the old regime, Gettleman owes him nothing.

When getting off the Thompson train, always watch your footsie, mind the gap!

Not sold on Addams either. He looked mighty lost on that second Njoku TD.

Not sold on Addams either. He looked mighty lost on that second Njoku TD. One play though. I think he's at least proved to be a serviceable starter, which is good enough as long as he's playing with Collins. Thompson, I just don't know where he's at anymore.

I think Adams has moments where he looks like he can keep the job and then other moments where he looks lost. I'd like to see some more consistency. Either way, he is solid depth guy that can play either Safety position and he may push Thompson out the door. Perhaps Thompson is better suited to play SS behind Landon or as a 3rd Safety in some of Bettcher's packages? Got to get Curtis Riley healthy and see what he can do in some live pre-season action. There is a reason Riley was pushed to the top of the FS depth chart.

I wouldn’t be surprised he doesn’t make the final 53 roster. He was drafted by the old regime, Gettleman owes him nothing. It doesn't matter what regime drafted who. Either you perform or you get cut. Adams has also slipped down the depth chart as well, but I would be surprised if he's cut and Thompson makes the roster. Thompson just flat out stinks.

Adams, on one 3rd down play, made a nice solo tackle in the hole to force a punt. Gotta like that.

Has there been anybody riding that train with you?
Darian “hamstring” Thompson hasn’t really showed much of anything in his career and he’s made of glass. Can’t see a happy ending here

you GUYS make me laugh. Last YEAR and up UNTIL training camp I spoke the TRUTH about footsy and JUST about 90 percent of you defended HIM. Now LOOK, I preached the TRUTH. He can't TACKLE, cover or do ANYTHING a safety does. Give me Adams or ANYONE else but footsy. Do NOT act like you guys were agreeing with ME before BECAUSE no one WAS. Come ON!!!! You criticized him solely because he missed time because of a foot injury...and that was asinine. The fact that he turned out not to be a good player has nothing to do with anything you said.

I’ve been saying this since he middle of last season ... I admit at first I was excited for the potential if DT and Collins .... but I realized he wasn’t the same as the preseason flashes ..... and Andrew Adams did what he had to do in 2016 and rightfully deserved his spot back last season .... which he never got ... unless Riley transitions into a legit FS ... we need to stop misusing Adams .... he isn’t flashy but he rarely messed up .... let’s not make him another Kiwinuka

Can’t see a happy ending here Well, you know, "on the train" in terms of giving the guy a fair chance to be what we saw before the opening day 2016 injury. At this point I think we know what we have there.
