So after the excitement of Jones' first start, it is apparent that the defense is absolutely atrocious. They have many young players, and an argument to be made is that Bettcher's system is the problem, but i'm curious on how the Giants will approach free agency this year with money to spend, specifically on the defensive side of the ball. Maybe like a 2016 year with Jenkins, Harrison and Vernon for an instant impact? Obviously those signings didn't work in the long run, but we need help on Defense sooner than later. Who are some impact players coming off their rookie contract that you would want the Giants to sign? www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/

I like Joe Shobert. Tackling machine from Cleveland. 142, 113 tackles last two years.
So far, that’s my list. It’s early yet. Need to see our guys a little more.

I like Williams or Conklin. From what I’ve seen I’m leaning towards Conklin.
Yannick doesn’t have a sack this year, which doesn’t tell the whole story, but something to look at. Especially for s guy that may command top dollar.
I’m not sold on big ticket FA DBs. It just hasn’t worked lately, for most teams. We can probably get a slightly lower tiered FS than Dix, that is more of a scheme fit type. We haven’t seen Love or Ballantine yet (?), so that’s all up in the air.
I’ll look into the other LBs mentioned. Not sure we need a DT, unless one is an upgrade over Tomlinson for a similar cost.
I think extending Engram should be a top priority as well. He’s eligible for one this offseason, right?

Honestly I'd extend both Engram and Tomlinson this offseason,Tomlinson has been good this year so far,and why buy a free agent when you have someone as good on roster and compromise comp picks in the future

Yeah I don’t know enough about the DT market. Just a feeling it’d be a lateral move in terms of production to replace him, but at the FA price.
Peppers extension next year is a little more murky. I think the whole secondary is on the wait and see schedule. He might be The only guy with his finger in the dike while the leaks spring around him. Or he might be one of the holes 🤷🏻♂️.
I just hope the goal here in FA is to lock down some weaknesses for extended period of time. We aren’t looking to get “that guy” that pushes the team over the top. We aren’t there, yet.

I don't see a "push a team over the top" type of player in this FA class unless Tampa inexplicably let's Barrett walk,in which case I'm jumping all over that.
