Usually athletes are banned from contact sports until spleen size normalizes because of the risk of a ruptured spleen if hit.

I remember years ago Chris Simms had a lacerated spleen in a game. If not for the quick response to get him to a hospital he would have died. You don’t mess with internal organs when your occuptation is getting the snot beat out of you.

I believe it happened o Mike Shanahan in college he almost died he went back to his dorm got really sick they got him help just in time think it happened during practice.

Spleen enlargement is a symptom of mono? Yup. I had to look it up when I heard on the radio about it. I thought maybe he had got hurt in practice.
