NE brings mid level free agents more often them not like Vanoy dudes been around the block but he is producing for the pats, it's the way they do it. The value of the free agent is not the question to me. NE knows what they want and they get it whatever way they can not just the draft. I pretty sure Stephon GiIlmore and Mcourty were not cheap pickups but they are now cornerstones for a great secondary.
They traded for Gilmore I'm sure he wasn't cheap on the resign, with free agents you pretty much know what your getting and Gillmore was really good and still on his rookie deal when they traded fro him, The McCourty boys are getting up there would be interested in what they paid him, that said they have have to fit in and make no mistake culture is everything in NE guys going there need to get in lock step with the locker room.

To be honest we have to see where the team is at,judge positional draft value vs fnaf value, and also see how realistically close we are to being an actual contender. The last part will be decided in the next 10 weeks,if the team finishes strong and the parts continue to improve,2 big signings to add talent on either side of the ball actually isnt a bad idea while we supplement with continued great drafting to keep adding great football players.
2 wise pick ups Conklin (or Daryl Williams)to finally upgrade RT long tern, which would leave future LT and possible upgrade at C(Halipio is a RFA so he could easily be back) Depending on if any of the other kids step up in the secondary,Delete Jenkins and sign Byron Jones...meaning a long term FS could be the final piece in the secondary
Now this would be an example of a horrible FA signing because of value in draft
Tyreek Hill indeed is a FA
We will probably be in position to take Lamb,Ruggs lll or someone who can provide similar dynamic playmaking ability that is a perfect fit for our offense on a 4 year deal plus option year Hill is going to get 85 million for 5 years...
Draft the guy if the talent is similar

Hard to identify specific players right now...but I hope he does what Accorsi did early on. Get volume on your signings. Don’t go for the big splash. And you don’t need to spend it all next year. Spread it out over solid players.

No doubt . I am not saying go after ever high priced FA. If a GM is valuing talent based on how much he has the pay the guy the GM is probably not doing his job or has no idea of what he wants his team to look like.

I think DG try's to see what the coaches think if the draft picks and free agents fit and if it is someone they feel fits what they do, at least that is the impression he gave when asked about drafting a QB he said he would listen to input from Shurmur, on numerous occasions he has said he will talk to the coaches and they will help them decide who fits where.

Spread it out over solid players. No need for the big splash. Totally agree with you, GL, and TEM. With that said, we do need to spend 89% of the cap. So, roll over the max Resign Tomlinson and Engram. Realistic FA signings would be Conklin-rt- Shobert/Littleton-ilb Maybe Byron Jones-dB. I’d say pick 2 of them at 30 ish million total. Use the other 30-ish million on mid tier depth. Not sure who they are yet.
