Yankees teaming up with Amazon to stream games The Yankees may soon become a major-league thorn in the side of New York’s cable providers. The Bronx Bombers, working with tech giant Amazon, are gearing up to become the first Major League Baseball team to let fans watch games on their phones or laptops without a cable subscription — a bid to win over millennials who are cutting ties with cable TV, The Post has learned. The plan by the Yankees’ YES cable-TV network is to allow online streaming for a limited number of Yankees games — possibly on Amazon’s Prime Video service — starting as soon as the 2020 baseball season, sources said. The ultimate goal is to provide an annual streaming package at a cost — say one year for $99, sources said. nypost.com/2019/12/03/yankees-teaming-up-with-amazon-to-stream-games/

Smart move with TV revenue starting to get questioned. Streaming services are the future. Now only if they would unleash their powers again and sign high priced FAs at all costs...

Cole, Strasburg meeting with Yanks (source) The baseball world will be focused on Southern California during next week’s Winter Meetings, but the Yankees headed west several days early to do some big-game hunting. According to a source, New York was set to meet with free-agent starter Gerrit Cole on Tuesday, followed by a meeting with fellow Scott Boras client Stephen Strasburg on Wednesday. www.mlb.com/yankees/news/gerrit-cole-stephen-strasburg-to-meet-yankeesGet them both if possible. Highly unlikely of course, but I'm glad that they are trying hard to do it.

It is a virtual certainty that a contract like this will be a financial albatross by Year 5 (if it even takes that long), but teams give them out anyway ....

If they get a ring or 2 out of it, it's worth it. Besides, the Yankees aren't losing mo ey regardless.

Local sports radio here in Orange County are pretty much acting like Cole is a lock for the Angels. Just letting you all know the pulse out this way.

Local sports radio here in Orange County are pretty much acting like Cole is a lock for the Angels. Just letting you all know the pulse out this way. The talk here is the Yankees made an offer. And it’s the richest contract for a pitcher to date. Numbers of course are not out but one insider said 7 years for $280 million. I think who ever gives an 8th year will get Cole. He wants that 8th year..

He wants that 8th year.. 8 years $288 $36m per 1 year and 1M more per year over Stras. To be fair. He deserves an 8th year. He is 29 to start the contract which means he will be 36-37 the final year on an 8 year contract.. Strasburg will be 38-39 on the 7 year contract.

Only way he turns that down is because he wants to be close to home. But then you do not hire Scott Boras for that, when you hire Boras you want the most money. Best job on the planet. You can be a mediocre starting pitcher, and you will get $10-15 million annual salary easily. Looks like we all picked the wrong profession.

For who and for what? There are better options on the roster and he is now an all or nothing hitter. I really dislike all or nothing hitters.

And I tried to choose that profession. It just didnt choose me.

It wasn't Rothchild's fault that German slapped his girlfriend in the face. Absolutely, I didn't mean my comment to be a knock on Rothchild, sorry I wasn't clear on that. Was really just commenting on that situation, and it's impact on our post-season. Just leaving the Astros is a huge win

Going to miss Sir Didi Yanks declined his QO of $17m making him a FA. JD Martinez opts in to stay with Red Sox, which may make Mookie Betts available via trade. Pretty sure we aren't trading Betts to you guys.
Unless Danny Cater is still available of course.
The Sox would have to be insane to trade Betts

The Sox would have to be insane to trade Betts Thats been the talk for a while now. And I agree. Thats why I hope they do. Either way, it sounds like this is Betts last year in Boston.
