I would’ve waited for next weeks game against Aaron Rodgers as opposed to this game against Mitch Trubisky where there was another CB on the field actually worse than Baker before I made this post. Can't tell if baker improved... Or if they just decided to pick on Ballentine today So when he plays bad it is open season on him. When has a good game it is dismissed . Gee it sounds like another player the Giants have.

I liked what I saw of Ballentine around the LOS. They way he shed blocks and made tackle was pretty impressive.
Of course when I brought that up during the game they began picking on him.
On the touchdown though, Ballentine seemed to have his eyes down and did not look to even defend the pass. I thought that was odd.
Very aw player coming from a D2 Pro Gram he is gonna have his moments but I think he will be worth the pain.
He didn't look raw against the run though. He looked more like a strong safety the way he fought of blockers and made a couple of tackles.

I didn't get to see the game, so this thread was appreciated. I'm glad Baker looked better. The kid would have looked better a lot sooner if we were playing man. I hope he has enough smarts to master the D. I would assume (hahaha) the Giants knew the answer to his football intelligence and ability to learn zone before drafting him. In 1984 we drafted Clifford Chatman, 4th rnd, from U of Central OK. He was highly anticipated because he had tremendous athletic talent. But, in all seriousness, he was incapable of remembering any plays, and Simms literally had to tell him which hole he was running to. He missed a blitz coverage one time and and Simms was nearly decapitated and Parcells rarely ever -played him for the rest of the season, and he was off the team the next year. I am praying that Baker can learn and understand his responsibilities on every play. If he can do that we should have us a player.

In the 10 games prior to today he was ranked the worst CB in football. Let’s calm down about one game against Mitch Trubisky before we start in with the “I told you so’s”...

He had his best game as a Giant . What he did today was why he was drafted. No penalties Blanked cover his guy the entire game. 3 total passes thrown at him 1) Screen pass (tackled for a loss) 2) Pass across the middle (Broke up on 3 down) forced punt 3) Pass in the end zone (Broke up on 3rd down) forced FG Without a doubt his best performance in Blue.
He did look good today. Good to see Love out there also, although it was at the expense of Peppers.

He showed great play strength for a rookie on those plays he didn't run around blocks he shed them pretty impressive. I know how tough this season is for all of us to deal with but there are more then a few guys to be excited about and to follow their development. There is actually a lot and there is gonna be more.

Really sucks about Peppers word is his hip was pretty bad after the game he has strung together a bunch of strong games and was starting to contribute on teams to.

He struggled mightily for a while but his game did pick up after the rough start before taking the hit against the Jets.
But with that said, PFF's ranking is like fool's gold. It's not worth much.

I agree. Connelly is one that I hope doesn't get derailed by his injury. That kid has a nose for the ball and getting after it.

Yea I'm excited to see connelly to get back and see how he comes back. The last month Carter has been coming on it's hard to see because he does a lot, plays some coverage rushes the passer he's only gonna get better kind of like Leonard Floyd

His strength is actually doing a lot of things good, even if its affecting his pass rushing from the edge stats. Good football players eventually find their role and excel at it. Let's say we get Chase Young and resign Golden (which we should) Move Carter inside with Connelly (after deleting tree)and let him play naturally as a read and react instinctive off the ball guy and all of a sudden the entire front 7 is frighteningly good.

Agree I know a lot of people are down on Leanord Williams trade I think if they can get something done with him early they might get him on a decent contract. The way he is playing I think his reps are gonna want to get him to the open market.

I haven't researched any of it but we were once again allowing wide open wrs. 19 points isn't bad, but we were lucky it was trubisky. Trubisky is a terrible QB. Watching him play today was eerily similar to Dave Brown. His accuracy and timing on his throws are hideous. No wonder Bear fans are screaming from the top of their lungs that they could of had Watson or Mahomes. He is by far one of the worst starting QB’s in the league, and the Bears traded up for him. Let’s see how Baker plays with Rodgers as the QB. I’m all for congratulating a player when he plays well. But I’m also looking at the full body of work. The opposing team, the QB, the wide receivers. That Bears offense did everything in their power to give us that game.

Why create more holes when you can bring back our own

My problem I have is I have zero trust in Gettleman spending it correctly.

Chase the Young...
What, no Jake Fromm (where?) We have DJ now. He is our QB for at least 3 years. And Fromm has actually not looked as good this season. I still think he can be a good NFL QB though. I'm not sure what's up with Georgia's offense this season. I was joking..Thats why one has to look at a body of work over time to accurately evaluate a player's potential. Even the pros who get paid to do that, the best of them bat around .500..
Our primary focus in the next draft has to be Chase Young (or a similar rusher) and OL..

a young rookie CB playing on a defense that stinks overall with a system that not one player seems to be thriving in. Wow its such a mystery as why he has not been better??!!
This D stinks. Next year they need a new coach and hopefully that will bring better play, a new attitude, and more consistency.

I was just bringing up the fact you just said you want to keep your own and not create more holes, when in fact, cutting those will do that.
