What should be noted Jackson got drafted by one of the best franchises in the league. Well coached, great owner. A franchise a young player would thrive in. Here, players and coaches come to die. We’re the black hole of the East Coast.
Harbaugh built his system and team around Jackson. That takes a lot of faith in your young QB, and he understands how to adapt his playbook to his personal. Our head coach keep jamming a round peg into a square hole.

Many of us said it was asinine to take a RB at #2 with a roster as bad as ours BEFORE the pick was made But we both agree you must take the BPA on the board. After the fact GMs genius are dime a dozen. No - as I said, many of us were BEFORE the fact GM’s. Too bad our actual GM wasn’t....

I hate that stubborn mentality with coaching, too, just continuously push and push for a narrow direction that doesnt work because "this is our 'system'" or whatever. All people, athletes, should be able to fully utilize their personal gifts, take whats best in them and let them run with it. Cant believe what we've turned into as far as lamar jackson though, no one could have foreseen what he'd become exactly, except a few and obviously the ravens. But im pretty sure he wouldnt have seen this sort of success here, for as we're pointing out, the ravens are taking his strengths in all aspects of his game, and building around it. here, jackson would have been forced into a totally different system. im sure he still would have been good, but hes in the right place now i do actually believe jones is the right qb for the giants, we just need the giants to get back to being the right kinda team for him.

Honestly 27 or 28 teams should jump in a time machine and draft Jackson. People are saying he is likely to get injured, but at the point is Jones any less likely to get hurt behind operation jailbreak? I finally have come around to the idea that SB at 2 was a mistake though. Honestly, they should have drafted Quentin Nelson if we are playing the hindsight game. A guard too high at 2? That kid is going to be a perennial all pro and hall of famer. If they wanted Nelson trading back was the play. Same as if they wanted Barkley. A Pro Bowl OG or RB is nice, but that pick had tremendous trade value because of the QBs on the board. The idea of losing any single player compared to the bounty to be gained in a trade to move back a few slots simply did not add up. If we dropped to the 5-6-7 range from 2 we’d have picked up an additional 1 or multiple 2s and still come away with Nelson, Barkley, Chubb, or McGlinchey. Our advantage on draft day 2018 was we needed everything and held a pick that had tremendous value. My problem with DG defenders is they point to him needing time because Reese left this empty roster that had to be built. Well Gettleman inherited # 2 overall from Reese. That wasn’t genius GM work having that pick, it came with the job. And that pick could have been turned into draft assets to address multiple needs, which is exactly what was needed. His golden jacket speech was ridiculous. You don’t look to draft a hall of famer on draft day. Far too many good prospects bust to think anyone is a mortal lock for such a career. You hope to draft good players and have them reach greatness. If you go listen to DGs media sessions from the 2018 offseason and draft and see where we are now I don’t see how the guy gets retained if accountability is in play, which it’s not under Mara. He hasn’t come close to his mission statement. Leonard Williams was an egregious panic move. Another big body for DG to use fancy words about and pretend a plan is in place. His Oline stinks. His pass rush stinks. And “big guys” are his thing. Jones TD passes are the lipstick on the pig right now. If we ignore everything happening in this franchise except Jones TD: INT ratio things look good. If we look at everything except Jones TD:INT ratio from his fumbles, to our 2-9 record, to our inability to block, to Saquon’s regression, to our poor blocking, to our defensive inadequacies everywhere, to our K missing XPs, to our coach repeating the words fight and battle until the media is bored to tears or begins laughing out loud, things are at an expansion level here. Giants have the wrong guys in charge. All my stuff all works out perfectly as well, after the fact.

And when John starts to think bad things happen. What should be noted Jackson got drafted by one of the best franchises in the league. Well coached, great owner. This franchise stinks of something rotten from the top to the bottom. When you lose like we have over the years something is seriously wrong. Since 2015 we are on the verge of going through our 3 head coach and potentially our 2nd GM. And let’s be clear about that on some doubters, if Shurmur does not win another game this year, and that’s possible. He will be fired... To save his job this year he has to win some games, and if he beats the Dolphins and pathetic Redskins that should not be met with a guarantee job next year. As for our GM, he’s got till next year. Their will be cap room, and his so called “great” drafts over the years will all have time under their belts. It’s put up or shut up..

The BPA on his board was the Running back. If some felt it was wrong or right is irrelevant. If as a GM yo do not pick the best player on your board . IMO:You are inept. Anyone who thinks the Barkley pick at this point was a good or bad pick . Well that story line has not played out as of yet. People screamed ( I was one of them) at this years pick at the moment it took place. The GM stuck to his guns. Picked the player he had the highest value on. That is the difference between the rest of us and one of the elite 32 that have those jobs. They have the balls to defy logic to initiate their vision of a team. We have the luxury of seeing each player as an individual. The GM has to see that player as 1 of 53 and how that piece will interact with the others.

I a superficial way that is true. The BPA in some cases can be transnational, that will at some point seamless replace a current starter when that time arises . JPP was not picked to be a year one impact player. Or he would have played more than he did He was picked to replaced one of the aging DEs ( I think Osi) IMO: the proper way to undergo team maintenance.

People keep defending the current regime by comparing them to "arm chair" QBs and the lower tier organizations in the league. Neither one of them should he the standard. If you want to win you have to compare yourself to the winners, not justify your existence by being bunched in with the losers.

All GMs make good and bad decisions, the good ones make more good. The sum of their decisions is measured in wins and losses, not in words or opinions. Gettleman’s decisions = 2-9

JPP was not picked to be a year one impact player. Or he would have played more than he did He was picked to replaced one of the aging DEs ( I think Osi) IMO: the proper way to undergo team maintenance. I am seriously questioning as to whether Saquan was really the best player in the draft. He may be the most dynamic. Maybe the most talented. But his position, along with our team needs make his pick a poor one as far as I'm concerned.
"Great" RB's need to be fed. And that can often be bad for a team. I think this is why in today's NFL, teams rarely win championships with these high profile RB's. They can get you out of your offense.
Usually SB winning teams these days have "RB's by committee". As we did in 07 and 11...
So who are the top RB's in the league? Elliott?......Not close to a championship. Le'Vean with Pittsburgh?......No again. McCaffrey? .... Mediocre team at best. Saquan?....Losing team. David Johnson? (when he was healthy)....bad team.
Who are the best teams? Pats? RB by committee. Baltimore? RB by committee .(one of them being the QB) SF? RB by committee.
I'm sure there may be exceptions, but these teams with superstar RB's tend not to win.
The prime positions in the draft are QB, Pass Rusher, Cover Corner and Left Tackle. A RB at #2 brought us a dynamic player, but has it helped bring wins?

No hindsight needed for the RB at 2 part. The Lamar part? I still question if he would be any good here, with Shurm running the playbook and Gettleman building his hog mollies for support. I wonder what DJ could do in Baltimore

No one here is able to post a viable alternative without a significant amount of speculation, projection and assumption which really renders it all pointless. I agree that the Barkley pick is an easy one to call and it may well play that way but it's too soon to call.

That does not mean you are correct now or at the time of the pick.

If you want to use stupid logic to bait . Throw you hook else where. if you want to conduct conversation that does not include your obvious " I want to acquire a reactionary response" comments. I am cool with that. If you do not. Find someone else . I lack the time or effort to interact with your apparent trolling. Stupid logic? How do you rate a GM? You’re logic that decisions GMs make is right is no sensical. All GMs make good and bad decisions, the good ones make more good. The sum of their decisions is measured in wins and losses, not in words or opinions. Gettleman’s decisions = 2-9 I can tell you not like your baited troll posts indicate.

The only thing to gain is nothing not even an I told you so we are 2 drafts in and every player still has a lot of development to go. The sad part is people were just waiting for the moment that a great kid and talent like Barkely has a freak ankle injury so that they could say I told you so. I would prefer to talk about who we have and not who we could of had because that is all hind sight. Or talk about who we might have coming up in the next draft. I have missed a ton of college ball so I am depending on some of you to get the names out, so I could go the lazy route and cherry pick games and see these possible up and coming Giants. What’s to gain by rehashing the draft is part of the evaluation of this GM. The Giants have caproom and high picks. This offseason is going to set the nucleus of the roster for Jones cheap 2-5 years. If we mess this offseason up we will be beyond repair. Based on DG’s 2 years and the Williams trade, I’d fire him. I evaluate our GM based on wins and Championships. What if’s make for nice discussion but I’d rather focus on the players we have and not the ones we don’t.
