This is too funny. I was just about to create a thread about Odell’s legacy.

Metcalf did this last year and I think in the same game I think it's a Bulldog thing to mock the opposing school

Yup. "The celebration was reminiscent of former Ole Miss wide receiver D.K. Metcalf doing the same celebration in the 2017 Egg Bowl. Metcalf copied wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. after he infamously did the crude celebration while he was with the New York Giants." I apologize to my teammates, coaches and Rebel Nation for my actions at the end of the game," Moore said in a statement. "It was an emotional moment, and I deeply regret it. It does not represent who I am or who we are as a team, and I will grow stronger from this mistake." Ok. It wasn't an "emotional moment." It was a marketing stunt to associate himself with OBJ and get some press. And I still dont get the purpose of it. Are they symbolically pissing on the opposing defense because they scored against them? Maybe some OBJ defenders can explain it to me.

I think he does these things because he is an attention whore but that is just a theory on my part. www.google.com/amp/s/www.sbnation.com/platform/amp/2017/9/24/16358254/odell-beckham-jr-touchdown-dog-pee

Some of the celebrations we see in today’s game make for good fun, but I can’t understand coming up with some crude premeditated touch down celebration that has total disregard for your team and the audience. I can understand someone getting into a fight and making a mistake, but this mindset is totally outside the scope of the game, and I question anyone who finds time for that.

Well then let's go back to Randy Moss faking his mooning of the fans. This foolishness has nothing to do with Odell Beckham. Seems like folks are just trying too hard to find fault with the kid at this point.

Did you read the story MS? The penalty for imitating Odell was assessed to the extra point which they then missed and lost the game. I like that they assess the penalty on the extra point instead of the kick off. I’d like to see the NFL adapt that rule as it seems more of a deterrent than assessing it to the kick off. Let’s not forget that at the time, Odell indicated he had no issue setting the kickoff team back with his end zone antics.

Really? You get that from one of MY posts? The article directly states that this is a emulation of OBJ. This kid didn't "fake moon" the crowd like Moss. He lifted his leg like a dog and "fake pissed" like Beckham. That's a pretty big leap your attempting to make. It was a selfish act and it cost his team a bowl game.

I guess the Giants are setting an example of a losing organization with incompetent coaching and sketchy ownership. The New York Football Giants- the blueprint for losing. Anyways, OBJ got a penalty for that celebration several years ago. The player for Ole Miss was just dumb for thinking that he wouldn't get penalized.

The fault is on this kid. You want to blame the guy he's supposedly imitating?

I've always really liked Beckham. And wish we never traded him.
But I've had two issues with him that are inexcusable:
1. The Norman incident.
2. The dog urination celebration and ensuing explanation in the locker room, post game.
Having said that... the article claiming this kid "copied Beckham" is a reach. Anyone using this as fodder against Beckham is reaching further.

Got to agree with Fbomb on this one. OBJ set the example, the kid followed and paid the price. At least the kid was remorseful unlike Beckham who did not express regret for being an idiot. I'll agree with the others somewhat. This incident is mainly on the kid. The sloppy dyed blonde haircuts I had to endure in my neighborhood from 2014 to 2018 is 100% on Beckham though .

sigh......no one said anything about this being Odell's "fault". It's totally on the kid for deciding to emulate OBJ knowing full well that there would be consequences. In this case, the consequence was costing his team a bowl game win.
But make no mistake.....he DEFINITELY was emulating OBJ. Which was the entire point of this thread in the first place.
A player with his kind of talent should be setting a positive example for young players......instead it's the selfish and negative aspects of his personality being copied.

Beckham was not only unremorseful, but made up a B.S. excuse that it was a message to our country's president.
