This is the type of QB Shurmur had success with. He was out on the FA mRket cheap and has played MVP type football since taking over for Mariota.

What is your point? Sit jones? My point is we never needed to draft Jones. We could have signed Tannehill. This all goes into scouting. Hindsight is 20/20, but GMs are paid for foresight. Coaches are paid to coach guys up. We are firing blanks.

Again a moot point if lets say they both go. Jones will still be the QB going forward . Mara and Tisch both approve the pick and are not going to dissolve that decision because they may or may not make administrative changes.

Tannehill has yet to play a full season without getting injured. Signing him as a backup is one thing. To have signed him this off-season to a starting role would have been a bad move.

W There was no reason to sign him A We did not have the cap space. B We would have added more dead cap with Eli. C Nothing would have changed Jones would have been the starter week 3

TEM do you recall how many GMs the Giants have had in the last 30 years or so. coach may go I doubt the GM goes any where tho.

Although the point of this thread is ridiculous because there is no way we would sign Tannehill at the time, it does show you an interesting thing.
It just proves that QBs in this league need certain systems to excel. Some are held back and look like failures due to not having this. Some look like great QBs due to having it. Coaching and system are a huge part of being successful or not at QB. Regardless of talent.
I know most probably already know that but this is the a perfect example.
He looks great.
One teams garbage is another teams treasure.
And now Miami is still searching for another QB to ruin. I think this is happening right now in Cleveland too with Baker Mayfield and Kitchens. I hope we can get Daniel Jones the right coach he needs to succeed.

Jones is is the right system(and I found out at Duke he was in a a system similar to the Saints,as Cutcliffe runs the hybrid WCO/Erheart/Perkins system the Saints do)as his ball placement and accuracy is perfect for optimal YAC yards for this modern type system) Tanyhill was messed up by being in the Green Bay very rigid old school WCO under Philbin where the patterns have zero flexibility other than a pre snap change He is now in the Erheart/Perkins system (Vrabel being a Bellicheck tree member obviously found an OC that runs that hybrid style Something to remember The Air Raid is a direct mutation of the Erheardt/Perkins system as it's the same numbers system and option routes are assigned a number.

FYI he played 16 games 4 times And I’m comparing him to Case Keenum whom Shurmur went to the NFC title game with. The Giants could have gone this route instead of going with a young QB. Shurmur has no history of grooming a kid QB.
