Weird take here. Saw a photo of Rhule. Big fat belly and skinny arms that look like he's never done a push up in his life. Isn't being strong and fit a good quality for the leader of an NFL squad to have, both for having the energy and mental focus to crush his job duties and to speak to the "dawg" inside of his players? Matt Rhule was a linebacker at Penn State. Didn't know that. I was totally wrong. Again.

You have to dig into that record though. He turned programs around and that takes a few years. By the end of his time at those programs, he was only losing 1 game a year. Baylor he was the HC after the big sexual assault scandal that should have crippled that program. It struggled big time year 1 because I of that. But turned them into a championship contender in 3 short years. That's what I see anyway. Also I learned he coaches BOTH sides of the ball. Still a gamble but a worthy one. A better gamble than another Shurmur. I really like him the question is. Is he gonna hang around college little longer till he can name his price and and what he wants as far as say in personnel and power. Saban did it in his prime. Rhule is only going to be more sought after the longer he waits as long as he keeps winning. What job would he be holding out for? HC of the New York Giants is his for the taking....

Here is his resume ( Unimpressive) 1998 Albright (LB) 1999-2000 Buffalo (DL) 2001 UCLA (DL) 2002 Western Carolina (LB/ST) 2003–2004 Western Carolina (AHC/LB/ST) 2005 Western Carolina (AHC/RGC/OL/ST) 2006 Temple (DL) 2007 Temple (QB/RC) 2008–2010 Temple (OC/QB) 2011Temple (OC/TE/RC) 2012 New York Giants (assistant OL) 2013–2016 Temple 2017–present Baylor he is 47-42 as an NCAA HC Winner of the Texas bowl (2018) How is this resume a top NFL coaching prospect? To me his just a made up shiny object that has glitter an no substance. 47-42 is (53%) That is between 8-8 and 9-7 in the NFL Not one of you would want an a coach that has been an NFL coach with between an 8-8 and 9-7 record. But it is ok for a college HC from the Big 12 that only has Oklahoma as competition, to come in and run the show with a mediocre record. I do not get that logic. He took Temple from 2-10 to 10-4 and a perennial Bowl team. He took Baylor from 1-11 to 11-2, now the 7th ranked team in the country. Pretty drastic turnarounds for both programs, I thought it was impressive but that's just me

Former Giants assistant, a New Yorker, and is more of a CEO coach than any one particular thing like Coughlin. I wonder who his OC would be?

Pat Shurmur had NFL coaching experience when he was hired. How'd that work out? We'll never know...he was fired before he had the talent to finish the job.

Pat Shurmur had a track record as a HC in the NFL... Let me re-phrase.... a good track record. A positive track record. A winning track record. But you knew that. Coaches with good track records are usually still coaching

Well, you can all watch a major bowl game today with Matty...Baylor is taking on Georgia in the Sugar bowl...
“At the end of the day, I’m never going to be in an arranged marriage,” Rhule told KRZI-AM in Waco, Texas on Thursday, via Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News. “I’m never going to subcontract jobs to the offense and defense. I always want to hire people that believe in what I believe, that are going to do things our way, that are going to believe in process, that are going to be part of a program. I truly believe that programs win.”

.......are you really comparing Pat Shurmur to Ray Handley? I am certainly comparing the need to move on from coaches who are not winning, yes. I believe the argument was that Shurmur just didn't have enough time.

Let me ask What has he done that you think makes him so good as a coach? What has he won? What has he done in the NCAA that would make you think he can win in the NFL? What has he done in the NFL? What makes him a good evaluator on NFL talent? Can he handle the egos of NFL players? Enlighten me because I just do not see it on his resume. You seem to have an affinity for asking people to answer your questions. Time to man up. We can make a pretty good assumption that his first 2 seasons will mediocre at best. Are you ok with that? I here everyone saying Rhule is a top candidate but no one ueses his resume and explains why he is.

Yes, because their handling of the team, a team that had talent, and Ray winning them over was so similar is was eerie Please send those smilies off to your niece Please explain the differences? Specifically The talent of each team, can't compare. It's usually coaches with talent that don't compete that are canned...vs coaches that have no talent, and get a record that everyone expected, and those are the ones, on rebuilding teams, that get a chance How each coach handles the QB's...one a promising rookie now going on year 2 without his respected QB friendly coach... vs Phil vs Jeff competing in camp How the team played their asses off for Pat, vs how the defense, the famed Giants defense, hated on Ray...thus a positive culture vs a negative Won't even get into how each handled the impatient fan base of the NY sports fan and prodding NY Media Creamy white rice pudding vs Monster sized Pickles... for a deli creep comparison.

We can make an assumption that his first 2 seasons will be mediocre at best? lol...what on earth are you talking about? What makes you believe he will be a great coach in the NFL Kind of simple I see nothing in his record and resume that would suggest he would be. Never ran an NFL offence Never ran an NFL defense Never won a major bowl game ( He may today) Don't know . He is in the big 12 (they suck) Never was part of an NFL draft team One season as a low level O-line coach on the Giants. None of this gives me a warn felling about this guy as a HC.

Shurmur produced a losing record with a promising QB...actually setting a franchise record for consecutive losses. A lot of people would look at that and see a complete and abject failure in a HC. And by a lot of people, I mean absolutely every pundit, expert and commentator on the planet, bar none. But if they were unsure, they would look at his past record to find...abject and total failure. But not you...you see the potential for unlimited success...which would be based on not one fact. Unless you care to lay that fact out right now...do you?

CEO coach What the hell does that mean?
I want a Head Coach. Not a New Yorker that resembles Tom Coughlin and is CEO Head coach. Because if that is all he has to suggest he would be quality NFL HC and he is hired. Expect more of the same. I not a fan of Mike McCarthy but his resume blows this guys out of the water.

Pat Shurmur had NFL coaching experience when he was hired. How'd that work out? Shurmur got on a sinking ship and built a culture and locker-room a year after the team imploded. Jones overachieved in Shurmur's system. I did not expect many wins from this team, Shurmur exceeded my expectations and I was not in favor of the hire. You were expecting less than nine wins?? He may have built a culture, but he couldn't manage a game and his play calling sucked. Re watch the Eagles game. EIGHT men in the box, he runs SB right into the A gap. Over and over and over. He should know that DJ can't read a defense yet and get him out of that play or give him a better chance for success on obvious running down. He simply got out coached too many times to keep him hanging around. Nice guy, may have built a culture, but a head coach he is NOT.

You have edited the post to fit your needs...facts were presented after you asked for ...as you called for them, specifically You brought up Handley vs Shurmur and I explained the factual differences..specifically. You are now suggesting Daniel Jones has suffered immense regression because of the 8 game losing streak. Then you suggest every person on this planet, thought Shurmur should have been fired. I and many others, the others who I assume are not every person on the planet, suggest Jones, lack of talent, young rookies, and get to the fact no other coach might feel comfy with a 2 year window the Giants provide...in actuality, all I see are the usual impatient NY sport fans that want vengeance on their frail mentality, because how dare this rebuilding team be exactly what all these, and I mean absolutely every pundit, expert and commentator on the planet, bar none, thought we would be. A non playoff rebuilding team with betting odds at 6-10, with Eli Manning ...far worse with a rookie QB Keep trying my impatient emotional NY sports fan

Matt Rhule is a proven CEO leader and a program builder. He has obviously never done this at the pro level, so there is certainly a risk there, but there is a risk with all of these candidates.

Yes, we lost not because we gave away every talented player we had, and signed stiffs on the OL...gave away OBJ and the rest, had no talent, rookies everywhere, and expected a rookie QB and Barkley, running away from any gaps, to win? Again, everybody...and I mean absolutely every pundit, expert and commentator on the planet, bar none....thought we would have a losing season Why so surprised?
