Not overly broken up about it but I understand the concerns by some. Post Coughlin you went from a young OC who never held a HC position before and lost the locker room to another OC who did have HC experience (9-23) and he went 9-23 again. So when you have two vet candidates out there (McCarthy and Rivera) with SB coaching experience and winning career records who go to a division rivals you're damn right I'm moderately disappointed when all the candidates left have either no HC experience or no NFL experience altogether. Frustration warranted. Not the end of world but the Giants are sitting with the HC spot vacant and staring at 3 division rivals whose head coaches have all been to a Super Bowl. So what....Rivera is good, but McCarthy is garbage who was lucky to have Rodgers....any decent coach would have won more SBs with Rodgers at QB.

Don Shula never won a championship with Dan Marino at QB. Is he garbage?

What is with people and these hot takes lately. My goodness saying McCarthy isn't a good coach because he had Rodgers is just silly. Equally silly is the guy saying Belichick is garbage and the guy replying to him saying Parcells was garbage and Belichick was great. People need to relax and not make everything so black and white.

The Giants move too slow. (in general) I heard the Giants were really like Mike and asked him back for a 2nd interview. In the meantime, Dallas made the hire. ...this info comes from Jay Glazer.

Two division rivals upgraded at HC. Phiily hired Ron Rivera and Dallas hired Mike McCarthy. This is cause for some to be concerned. Im not enamored with Mike McCarthy and am fine he didn't come here but given all that talent on Dallas, by hiring Mike McCarthy they'll be ore efficient. Don't know which way NY Giants are going with HC but I'm curious as to what happens and hope that this time, Mara makes the right choice because the last two were terrible. Well apparently, Doug Pederson is available now...

My general opinion is that having a guy who had prime Aaron Rodgers and posted a good career record is like saying all the otherwise failed schmucks who coached Lebron in Cleveland are good basketball coaches. Patently false What was the Packers record without Rodgers and McCarthy at the helm? This is like the offensive innovator who came to us from Green Bay yeah, that guy was an offensive mastermind. Not even slightly concerned about McCarthy not coming here and kind of glad that’s who Dallas landed on.

I see some on this board acting like it's the end of the world because we didn't get Mike McCarthy. An then if you ask them why did you want him to be HC of the Giants they simply point to his overall record. LOL. Mike McCarthy has had 2 QBs as a HC who both happen to be HOFs, so I would be more worried if he didn't have a winning record. With that being said, Mike McCarthy has always called the plays and consistently clashed with Rodgers when he checked out of plays, which is something Dak Prescott did on a consistent basis with Kellen Moore. It will definitely be interesting to see how this relationship works between Jerry Jones, Mike McCarthy, and Dak Prescott. Both Jerry Jones and Mike McCarthy have huge egos, whereas Dak Prescott is trying to become the highest paid QB so he thinks that he should have a bigger say on how the offense should be run. Even Skip Bayless who is the biggest Cowboy fan and will twist himself into a pretzel to justify the actions made by Jerry Jones wasn't to thrilled about the move. (You should watch the whole video if you can since they talk about McCarthy in depth. If you can't skip to 5:30 as they discuss his relationship with Aaron Rodgers and how things between them reached a breaking point) LOL whoever thinks it's the end of the world we didn't get McCarthy, needs to get their head checked.

The Giants move too slow. (in general) Yes...and they always have. They drag their feet in everything. They are usually the biggest losers when it comes to free agency. Look at our personnel and scouting...they have no clue! Just look at the product on the field! It’s proof! Always looking to sign a poor man’s this or a poor man’s that. Screw that! Spend the money and sign some names so we can win some damn games. Hell, we know they got the money. Seats are filled no matter what. Even with other team’s fans! They will sign friggin Tate...never mind I’m not going to go there.

McCarthy was not an exciting option.

I have this weird suspicion that the Giants HC won't even be Matt Rhule. It will some outlier where everyone will go: "Who dis?" You called it. You're too good. Dis be "Joe Judge".

McCarthy was not an exciting option. McCarthy is a good coach but part of good coaching is also being at the right place at the right time in the NFL. I'm excited to see what Judge can do. He talks a good game but they "all do" so show me the money!

It's just kind of interesting that the NFC East just got two top tier coaches with established reputations, while the Giants are still "deciding". What does it say about the Giants if McCarthy decided to NOT go to their interview in favor of the Cowboys? The Redskins picked up Ron Rivera and former HC Jack Del Rio, so again, what does it say about the Giants reorg if a perennial loser like the Redskins (with owner Daniel Snyder) can get two top candidate HC, but the Giants can't? I have this weird suspicion that the Giants HC won't even be Matt Rhule. It will some outlier where everyone will go: "Who dis?" Proven coaches wanted no part of Gettleman.

Heard it many times. Standard boilerplate.
People ate it up though. We want to believe.
I almost wonder if he had Papa's questions to prep to ahead of the interview.
Still, the addition of Garrett makes this a powerhouse staff.
Now, build the OL and DL.

He had Brees for a 14 seasons and won one super bowl I was thinking that the other day and you are the only other person I've seen mention it. It's not easy to build a championship team and Reese gets roasted all the time for supposedly failing with this even though they did win two of them!

Sure was holding Rodgers back wasn’t he? lol! who's holding him back now? It's so ridiculous....imo, the HC is the most important factor in winning a championship. QB isn't in the top 3 and maybe not in the top 5 depending on how one chooses to package the team view. The QB goes as the team goes not the other way around.
