this new HC hire means we get new offensive and defensive coordinators right? because the ones we had sucked... nothing is etched in stone, but most likely. don't know about our OC since Shurmur called all the plays but I do know our defense sucked so most key we're looking at a new DC.

As far as knowledge and experience Garret would be fine as a OC. But does anyone feel that it might undermine a brand new coach having someone like Garret over his shoulder. And Mara might be more apt to pull the trigger on a new HC if he has someone like Garret on the staff ? Not sure how I feel. I'm guessing that Judge will have a bit longer leash than Shurm or BMac. I don't think the Giants ownership was happy that they felt it necessary to change coaches again, and will be very loathe to do so again in the next few years. I'm going to say he gets at least 3 years before being on the hot seat, maybe another one on top of that. Giants ownership wouldn't have the nerve to pull the plug on the new HC in a year or 2, if they did they would never be able to hire another one..

Judge is entering a much better situation so I expect him to last longer. Management thought we were in win-now mode when Shurmur took over, Mara wanted Eli to play the entirety of 2019 and Gettleman was on the record of possibly utilizing a "Green Bay model" and have Jones sit behind Eli until he is 40. Really hard to win when you are not even sure what your team is supposed to be with tens of millions of dead money against the cap.

This would be a very good move Remember, before Jones forced Kellen Moore on him he fed the hell out of zeke Judge will be the leader and CEO of the team and Garrett will be the x's and o's playcaller.

I hope we don't get JG. Over at the Cowpokes board they are wishing us to sign him as our OC

I remember a TV show vaguely from my childhood with the slogan--"here comes the judge". Probably back page material. I guess NYG will block a few more punts--one of the most devastating plays in football. Any hints on DC yet?

I do agree that a young inexperienced HC will need an experience DC and OC. the way you say it makes it sound good but do we really want garret calling the plays? I bet he is a very different coach as an OC and not under Jerry's thumb.... but your point solid. Not saying it has to be Garrett but Judge will need veteran OC and DC. I hear Rhule wanted to bring with him a college DC ( not sure if thats true) but most college defenses suck.....lol.

Garrett imo would want to be a HC. He's not going to be a HC this year. I see alot of the younger HC's with older coordinators, I don't see why Garrett would care if the HC were younger. It actually gives him an advantage.

They could hire Garrett as a "Future Interim Head Coach".

They could hire Garrett as a "Future Interim Head Coach". Or ownerships "attitude improver and positive mind set director". I think everyone is just spent with this process. Laughter can be therapeutic.

Id rather keep Shurmur as the OC You like watching SQB run into the teeth of a stacked box 3 times in a row before punting?

but.... shouldn't the new coach hire his own staff? maybe this is y they wanted an inexperienced guy so the fo can make these moves themselves. Of course that’s part of the reason the giants wanted an inexperienced guy. The head coach should have a big say in all his coaches , it’s his team . Regardless of what anyone says , the giants didn’t want anyone coming in disrupting their system . Their priority was hiring a coach to play nice with gettleman .

He needs coordinators who can recruit exceptional coaches under them. Shurmur brought in squat for coordinators and the rest is history. A young HC in the NFL doesn't have a deep pool of TALENTED coached to call on.

Why don't they interview Kellen Moore? The guy did have the #1 ranked offense this season. He may become our QB coach? I think he stays with the boys.
