Mara just said Garrett is in the house. I think this is the OC choice.
"Quality guy, class, great individual."

Please judge don't do this. The guy is an idiot. Having him call his own plays would he the end of this offense.
Why does this name keep resurfacing to torture us?

I’m not against this at all. It’s his chance to get away from the death grip of Jerry Jones and focus on what he knows best. Offense and playing the QB position.

If he's hired, does he bring along Bill Callahan as OL coach? They were together in Dallas from 2012-2014

Jerry Jones is the owner, GM, and head coach of that team. I think this could be a good hire, fans are acting like he’s going to be our head coach.

I he comes with Callahan all the better.

Well, he was Saban's QB position coach in Miami so there's the connection.

Not to mention his literal 3 years as an OC were successful. He's always been a good offensive coach.

I'd be totally fine with him as the offensive coordinator. He has done that in the past and he obviously has a bunch years as a head coach under his belt. I think it would be a solid hire. The only thing I don't like about it is its probably just a one year bridge until he gets hired as a new head coach somewhere else. So that would mean DJ would have to learn a new offense for a third consecutive year.

Yes, yes, yes, best news I've read. Callahan is the number one coach I want on this staff! He is a great Oline coach! If he could turn Flowers into a servicable player, then I am sure he can help this lot! Get him in here Judge!

Don’t want him. He was a crap QB and he’s a crap coach. We need better. We deserve much better after what we have been through.

I don't like this if it happens. He's only won this shit show of a division 3 times and went 2-3 in the playoffs as a HC in 10 years. And I don't think he's much of a "teacher". He never got the most out of the talent on his roster, imo. NEWS FLASH: He's not interviewing for the head coach job so I'm not worried about that at all. He did a good job with an over bearing owner pulling puppet strings and two QB's who I don't think were nearly as good as Jones is going to be. I don't like him personally but this might be an incredibly smart hire.

will this be uncomfortable for Jude is an experienced HC is on his staff? Just a thought. I believe that any first time HC should have one if not multiple former head coaches on his staff

I think that one trusted lieutenant with HC experience is probably enough

I personally want Mike Lafleur, he's been under Kyle Shanahan's wing for the past 6 years ever since Shanahan was the OC of the Browns and he fits the mold of what Judge is looking for.
The only reason I thought we hadn't hired an OC was because I thought the organization was waiting until the 49ers either get eliminated from the playoffs or win the Superbowl so they can hire him.
Also if your argument for bringing in Jason Garret is that we need him in order to get Bill Callahan, you're not really making a compelling case since you kind of are admitting the only reason you want him is because of the other guy.

Yeah I was all in on Mike Lafleur as.well 49ers have the most diverse and balanced offense in the league and extremely innovative the way they use their personal and how they design their running and passing attacks

will this be uncomfortable for Jude is an experienced HC is on his staff? Just a thought. Should be a help ... unless he feels like Garrett is looking over his shoulder or whispering about him to the owners (who seem to like Garrett).
Also wonder if Garrett is just using this job for a stepping stone to another HC gig, meaning that he could be gone after a year and DJ will have to deal with another OC (3 in 3 years). Probably have the same concern with most any OC who comes in here though -- if he's good, he might leave for a HC gig.
I think it’s a good thing. Of course his goal is another HC position which means he needs to be a success here. Good stuff.
