OMG that was completely benign. A simple...."don't do that again" would have sufficed. Yeah? Why don't you try that with a cop on the street and report back on how it goes. The thing is, the security guard was in the locker room with a team that just won the national championship getting silly. Not in a dark alley in NYC. Not really apples to apples. Locker room ass slapping is pretty normal among dudes. Odell was probably drunk too. That said, Odell is dumb. Really dumb. And makes poor decisions all the time.

What do you think would happen to you if you walked up and slapped a cop who was doing his job on the ass?
Odell deserves everything he gets. He is a complete and utter buffoon.

That didn't look like joking to me MS, plus anything the cop would say to him wouldn't matter. He struck a cop, and now he should pay the consequences. It's that simple.

An arrest warrant? Stop it.

And OBJ is well on his way to being the next Antonio Brown......what a loser. Cleveland will get rid of this fool in the coming months.

Odell is such an idiot. He excels in idiocy. He excels in most things, besides catching passes and scoring touchdowns.

Can someone explain why the cop was there and yelling at the players?

If it was me or likely any other citizen not named Odell Beckham Jr, and the cop was humorless, think I would get a stern rebuke and a reminder that while on duty you don't ever touch a cop. And then I would apologize. If he was more grounded and less of an asshole I'd expect a more mild rebuke. I wouldn't expect that cop to waste time and money looking up what he could potentially charge me with. lol ... you'd be tased and locked up.
Not sure where you run into all these jovial cops ... try that in NYC and see if your theory holds.
OK. I don't necessarily agree but that's fine, we can disagree. I was speaking from the perspective of a born and bred nyc dweller. I also considered situational context in my reply. The situation was hardly contentious so I wouldn't expect the disproportionate response, but as this situation demonstrates, ya gotta account for the biggest a-hole in the room and the first cop seems to fit that description nicely.

Can someone explain why the cop was there and yelling at the players? "Team members were smoking victory cigars in the locker room, and reports said an officer told the players that anyone caught smoking was subject to arrest. Another officer later stepped in to tell players it was OK to smoke in the locker room, according to an AL.com report, and nobody was arrested and the party continued."

Pretty sure law enforcement has better things to do than to monitor the smoking habits in the locker room of a football team that just won the nation championship.
The whole thing, including issuing an arrest warrant for Odell Beckham, sound like law enforcement overreach.

What a clown. Slap anyone’s ass and see the end result. Not good one way or another. Like that dumbass Marathon runner who smacked that reporter. That reporter was so mad, the look on her face was priceless. That being said, he was a total douche for doing that.

Gettleman and Mara are high fiving right now knowing they barely missed getting stuck with Odell, but got rid of him in the nick of time for a huge return......once again the Browns made a massive mistake..l.lsomething the Browns seem to excel in.

But it's giving Odell the attention he so desperately craves, so he's probably fine with it .....

NOPD are sending a message that you cannot touch a police officer and get away with it no matter how famous you are. And I agree with that stance. Do I think he will be charged with anything? No, I highly doubt it (and I wouldn't want anyone to get a mark on their record for something like this), but the message was sent to the public. With that being said, I'm happy he's gone. He's a hell of a player, but he's a headache. I feel bad for the LSU players, that team was phenomenal and all the talk that should have been about them is now about Odell.

I just find the entire thing ludicrous based on the circumstances. I agree that devoid of context one should never physically engage a cop but the situational reality is a bit different. And as far as NYC is concerned, I've touched plenty of nyc cops, on duty. It's the context that was critical. Thankfully, most nyc cops are more rational than the small minded a-hole in the LSU locker room.

Yes OBJ is a fool. However, the point of this arrest warrant is to overshadow the story that preceded it. The fact that OBJ was handing out cash, potentially affecting the eligibility of some players. It's a big "HEY, LOOK OVER HERE!" LSU wants to avoid this mess OBJ created with his pocket money, so instead, it's offered up this tidbit for our consumption.
