How do you know that the Giants were "asleep at the wheel". Do you know what they did or did not do to try to get Callahan here?
What do you mean sleeping at the wheel "again"? When else were they sleeping at the wheel?
Seems like always. Rather then get the best out there they allow coaches to hire friends Giants have stunk to long to worry about personalities and hurt feelings Get the best available people in here period. Out of playoffs to long. Imo ( maybe not yours or othere opinions ) Callahan was the best out there whether you believe him or not Judge specifically said that being "friends" with some one is not a reason to hire them as an assistant. How do you know the recent hires are not who he thinks IS the best person for the job?

Ummmm.... No, I wouldn't. What job hires people with the only qualification being you know them? So, you think the "ONLY" qualifications going into the hiring of his staff is that he "knows" them? That is a laughably silly opinion. What is more likely, being that he "knows" the people he's hiring, is that he "knows" their qualifications. Secondly, 2 seconds after this thread was started, Colombo was reported to be interviewing for the OC position and you stared another thread stating that HE was a "must get". You must be dizzy from all that flip flopping. Colombo coached Dallas' o-line, Callahan is a very well respected coach.

How do you know that they didn't try to get Callahan and he chose the Browns?
Just posted in another thread last year in year 2 for the niners they were calling Salha's head but Shanny stuck with him new they were young and were still building and developing. His reward is a great D. Think they knew each other and he knew what kind of coach he had. the rest of us new nothing about him or any of the niners young staff. There are other coaches that are young and can coach, lets hope we get some.

Like any good organization, not just football, there has to be some synergy. Some trust right from the start is important, with the ability to grow to trust immensely. Like has been said here before, if a coach takes a job primarily because he thinks it will lead to his next more favored gig, he will be "found out." Winning in the long run gets coaches dug up for promotions, and makes names for guys that were "nobodys" (in the masses eyes). Wouldn't it be great to have a coaching gel together and stay together for awhile?

Dave Degluinmo (something like that) is the guy we are interviewing. I don't think these guys have "plan A, plan B" ect. I think they are interviewing guys and seeing who jumps out at them. It's like the draft, you have to go into it with an open mind.
I still have not heard anything about Harry Hiestand, I'd love him.
They have Marc Columbo coming in who is young and did a good job in Dallas and D. Guelliemo coming in who coached the 2 years Scarnecchia took off and coached under him. There are other well qualified guys out there, We all wanted Callahan he chose the Browns. I would have liked Callahan but he was not my number 1 and certainly not a must have. I said very early on this off season that it is a good offseason to find assistant coaches. Especially for the OL some of the top coaches are available. Some great DCs were out there. Good year to be looking for coaches IMO.
Hiestand, Callahan, Columbo and Guielliemo are all very good OL coaches IMO. Columbo seems to fit the old school mold Judge is going for and is young enough to relate to our OL.
