Hey all, wondering what you think about this. In short the top 5 are, Okwara, Floyd, Ngakoue, Williams, Judson and Barrett. I struggle with calling Williams an “edge rusher” but I understand why he is on the list. I was using him as an example for what type of payer Judge wants and I dont know enough about the other FAs to claim they are. |

If the 6 on that list are with 3-5 million a year of Williams and we can afford his cap space . It is a no brainer. |

Above and beyond having talent Judge knows the type of players he wants on this team. Not sure of those who fits his profile. Other than Williams of course. There Edge guys are tasked with doing more in this defense setting the Edge there goes Yanich covering there Goes Okwara for me Judon is the closest thing to what they need the others are 1 hit wonders with not many year of consistent production. Williams of course does everything in either front so he covers versatility IMHO.  |

Actually a guy who is not listed fits the Giants best and not because he had a game against us. Hassan Riddick he had a slow start because the Cardinals used him in coverage also from what i have read don't know about his run D tho but he has some pass rush and knows how to get in zones in the passing game, and is probably much cheaper then the rest of those guys.

Williams is the right guy but not sure how his type of (next) contract will fit the salary cap jigsaw puzzle.

With that said being a good or bad person has zero to do with one's ability to play the game of football successfully. After one season we know what Judges looks for in players. |

I'm not saying I'm happy about it but we don't have much cap room, have to re-sign our own defenders and the draft isn't loaded with pass rushers. So my guess is our top edge rushers for next season are on our roster. Not ideal but probably reality.
Depending on how the draft goes we could go edge in round 1, so that's a possibility.

Or If we are legit taking the next step and in contention why can't the team be buyers before the trade deadline ? Edge rushers (and corners )are a very tradable commodity for teams looking to sell.. Why jack up our cap or make a reach on a guy early when this is now a reality that this happens more often ? |

I agree it could very well happen. Who knows what X and Carter will produce for us as well. At some point if we really want success our coaches will need to develop some talent and not just rely on top 10 draft picks for success.

Physically, they're soft. What Graham was able to do with a defensive unit that has no real EDGE threat is amazing. If we add these pieces I believe the sky is the limit for this D |

I like Judan he comes every week to play. And the Ravens just might let him walk. Cap casualty. Yannick was a bust for Baltimore this year. 1-3 sacks.

Needs to be re-signed. The 4 we drafted are not what we need on the edge. Carter returns hopefully fully recovered but he still is not the answer even though he's probably an upgrade. X man jury still out, might not even make the team next year imo. |

I'm saying that we invested a lot in that area last year plus have X and Carter coming back and thus do not see us spending a lot in free agency or the draft in this area.
I completely agree this D needs a stud edge rusher to get to the next level, just don't think we add one this offseason unless the 1st round works out exactly right for it.

Has he done anything worth of discussing? I recognize that name, but for the life of me I’ve never seen him on the field. He must be like Bigfoot. We all have heard of him, but no one has ever seen him. |

They threw a way Connelly after one season with an injury I wonder if they will be consistent and do the same with either of these two.. |

Edge is the most important position on the defensive side in football. X and Carter are 3 round investments. AKA what we send the Jets to hope to sign LW. Throwaway value for DG A real investment is a 1st/2nd round investment. Or something in FA. DG has fallen short. He's obsessive about interior DL when Edge is so much more valuable and less prevalent. He inherited JPP and OV and replaced them with? Golden and Fackeral? interesting. |
