The Islanders made it official on Tuesday morning by naming veteran NHL executive Lou Lamoriello president of hockey operations and announcing he will have "full authority over all hockey matters with the organization." Lamoriello, speaking on a teleconference on Tuesday afternoon, said he had “no pre-conceived notions,” when asked about the potential fate of current Islanders general manager Garth Snow and coach Doug Weight. Lou Lamoriello moved quickly to shake up the New York Islanders by firing general manager Garth Snow and coach Doug Weight and naming himself the team's new GM, just two weeks after taking over as president of hockey operations. Lamoriello made the moves Tuesday that begin to reshape the organization in his image, two weeks to the day after ownership said he'd have "full authority over all hockey matters." Lou will turn the Isles around within the next few years. This man was a god for years in Newark amongst Devils fans. He got his head coach today.. Stanley Cup champion head coach, Barry Trotz!!! Yeah Trotz is going to take that franchise to new levels. They will be a threat to the Devils, Rangers, Pens, Caps, and Flyers for many years to come. |
