I guess the league has no interest in protecting Jones. Basically horseshit. Other QBs get treated like they are made of glass. Obviously the DJ catch is all over the internet, but it’s the blatant helmet to helmet I see every time that’s pissing me off. Late hits and low hits in the pocket, late hits on the sideline, illegal hits when he slides. F*** em right, let’s just let his brain turn into Jello. Protect our damn guy. Shit. This isn’t true, Tom and the like get hit inside the pocket, It’s our coaches who keep using DJ like a high school QB. Don’t want your qb to get hurt and his career cut short? Stop using him like a pass catching fullback.

Stop using him like a pass catching fullback. I'm on record here as saying I think he will make it as a franchise guy, so of course I don't want him injured every three weeks. That said, there is something to be said for building belief in the said young QB and especially the rest of the roster. Nothing does that like winning, no matter how ugly. We could see it on DJs face, pressing and not having fun. I referred to him as Charles Atlas, holding up the Earth by himself. I'm really looking forward to seeing him on the field with the players they intended--and no Solder. The Bills brought Allen along early in a similar fashion. He ran around in circles and leapt over linebackers until his lightbulb went on and the roster caught up. He too struggled with TOs. I think DJ will be the guy but in the meantime they are letting him "eat" a little-- use his athleticism to lift team. I'm not sold on Garretts play calling but I do get using DJ as a weapon sometimes. It's on DJ to learn the very few times to risk a big hit vs perfecting the slide.

QBs and WRs receive the same protection from illegal hits though. You really believe that? I watched it again and there was helmet to helmet contact. IMO it's a lot easier call when the QB is behind the Los. I'm not for the "pussification" of the NFL as some here might claim. But he just was staggering from a hit within a couple weeks. I believe that helmet to helmet contact is the same penalty no matter who it is. QBs receive extra protection from hands/arms ect. My point is if he was a WR getting hit in the head with a helmet it's a penalty. There is no difference. I don't know about the exact play but that rule is very clear.

IMO, it's enforced more against a QB than a wr or RB. A QB in the pocket is going to be protected. A RB or wr outside not so much.

My point is a QB outside, or a WR outside is treated exactly the same when it comes to helmet to helmet hits.
I think we are agreeing...but I'm not sure lol.

My bottom line is a good QB is worth several WRs or RBs. And NFL referees are way more likely to call a 15 yard penalty against a QB in the pocket than a QB running or catching outside the pocket. I get their jobs are on the line, but DJ is not going to last long if they keep playing him this way. Just MO.

It wasn't helmet to helmet. And I'm sort of OK watching a QB get drilled legally if he's playing WR or RB. What goes around comes around. It just speaks to the job Gettleman has done: no solid O line and lack of a run game. We are forced to use DJ in ways that produce yards. It's not his fault for sure, but quit trying to turn the game into flag football.

If Jones would slide more calls would be made. whatever it is that's happened to the Giants, seems they either trip over their own feet or lose a player that insures no continuity all the time.

Defenders get flagged for RTP if they step on Brady's shadow! Football is a collision sport, not a contact sport!
