Here's my level headed take on it all: This team is a "loser" team right now. They don't make the key plays.(I watched this from '68-'81, this feels familiar). The Offensive Line IS the weakest link on the squad. If they were an upper middle quality unit- this team would be very good. We just played a team that has been gashed by big plays for 3 weeks, and we didn't barely attempt a pass of over 10 yards- so either Shurmur/Shula are morons, or they have their hands tied by the weak O-line. (It's the latter IMO). Eli would be pretty good with protection, but he's helpless without it. I wish we had a different QB, but he's not the root of our problems, just a large branch. 1-3 is not the end in a division where 2-2 is first place (how'd the 'Skins do? they could be 3-1). So, they have some strong points and players, but the weak O-line starts a chain reaction that affects the whole. The OL gave plenty of time today. Yet our offense was still stagnant. I've been saying it for years... both the OL and Eli are the problem. Period. Let the internet warriors battle it out trying to figure out the exact ratio.

everything is close to an INT when you can’t stand Eli. If thats what you need to believe, so be it. It was a throw into double coverage that was nearly picked off. How anyone feels about Eli is completely and totally irrelevant to the case. it wasn’t double coverage dude. The safety came in with a nice hit right when the ball hit Ellison in the hands. If it was at the chest he probably scores. The pass wasn’t bad it was just a good defensive play.

Forget about actual play or watching the games. Just scream "HATER!!!" until you think you "won" the argument.

Eli had some of the best protection he has had for some time today. They gave him plenty of time on quite a few occasions, and he STILL checked down. He doesn't look downfield because he's scared, and that is 100% mental, meaning that it's 100% on him to get it figured out and work through it in a hurry, before the entire season is in the toilet again. Now before anyone takes this as me thinking that the OL is suddenly great, or even very good, because thats not what I'm implying. They are still a big part of the issues, but they have definitely improved, starting with last week's game against Houston. They have noticeably improved in pass protection and given Eli far more time than they have been previously, and he's still doing the same dink and dunk checkdown crap that he's been doing for going on 4 years. Again, that is 100% on him, and no one in their right mind is going to deny it Yeah. It's both. When O-line is pretty good Eli is okay. When O-line is bad Eli is helpless. They're both equally responsible, I guess, that this team with talented playmakers have only scored 20 points once in the first 4 games. The OL was pretty good today, and Eli mostly played like crap. The OL was pretty good last week, and he played better, which makes no sense, seeing as how the Saints are a far cry from being a good defense. If he stretched the field tonight like he did last week, this game was a W

Very well said, while Eli surely deserves blame so does the OL and the coaching staff...

How does one evaluate the coaching staff, except for decisions re timeouts, punts, off-side kicks and 4th down? Who can discern what play was actually called vs. what play was executed? Or in many cases, what wasn't executed?

Start Kyle Lauletta next week. I don't care if he isn't ready. We need to tank. We dont need to try to tank. We will do that naturally.

The thing I don't get is when the game is pretty much out of hand, why does Eli stay in?
I am honestly trying to remember the last time that wasn't the case. Not bashing Eli or anything, I just can't remember.
*edit* On second thought, it had to be when we had Nassib ... or maybe that was preseason

I predicted a 34-17 game. With the 7 coming in garbage time.
I deserve a medal.

This is exactly how I feel about this team. Also to add to that. I really wish the owners would have opened the piggy back for TC the way they did after he was fired. This team have no legitimate structure. It may take a few years for that to happen. I give it a few more weeks before some people start making noise to the media anonymously if they keep losing in this fashion. absolutely. Season’s on the line. If they lose the next two weeks, this is going to get ugly quick season is on the line, that’s hilarious, this season was over before it started, with Eli coming back and this O-line. We won’t be competitive until we get a QB that can run as well as throw. Cleveland finally understood that, and will be a team on the rise now.
