Drury tinkered and created the team he inherited. No grit and can’t win on the boards For the Rangers to beat the faster, younger Devils they needed to be hitting the way Trouba hit in the third period Devils PP last night. And they needed to play that way consistently from minute 1 of game 1. They didn’t play that way at all and thus had virtually no hope of slowing the Devils down. Their only way to win was the physical play, sadly they eliminated that early on in the series

Doubt it will make any difference if we do get one. Hope Carolina shows the Rangers how to play against a team like Jersey. Drury tinkered and created the team he inherited. No grit and can’t win on the boards Funny, considering the Devils kept them pinned to the boards all series. They couldn't get 2'off the boards without turning it over

Maybe I’m petty but even though we will lose, I’m happy Trouba killed Meijer. That last hit on Shesterkin was the last straw. Meijer particularly was a deserving recipient. Hockey justice. Totally clean hit. Too bad the series wasn't FILLED with hits like that

I'd keep the kid line and the 4th line, outside that, anyone on the top 2 lines is on the block.
We need a Tkachuk, either one would suffice, LOL

We need a Tkachuk, either one would suffice, LOL With 11 million dollars we wouldn’t pay Panarin we could easily have 2 guys to replicate his offensive production , produce far fewer offensive zone penalties and errant cross ice passes and some actual grit that might not make our top 6 such pussies on the playoffs. Oh and Kane was an awful addition. We added a name and nothing more.

Can’t wait to learn the Rangers trade Laf for Erik Karlsson strictly for leadership for Panarin
Kakko for Kopitar too

Sometimes when I watch Panarin play (or not play) in the playoffs I'm left with the feeling that his mindset is that the playoffs are just extra games without the high paycheck. I don't think he cares about winning a Cup.
They can't trade him for 3 years. No move, no trade contract. Excellent regular season player that just doesn't want to play more than 82 games. He is the problem. And Kane was a waste.
The real issue was when they brought in Kane, everybody deferred to him. The power play was fine with Fox running the show and dishing to Zib at the right circle and Kreider at the left post. Once the brought in Kane, the chemistry was altered and they never truly found the rhythm.
I wouldn't trade any of the kids. Essentially I would just replace Kane with a physical winger (maybe Cullye), and since they won't be able to afford Tarasenko, bring up Othman and give him a real shot. I'd keep everyone else.

Canes had no problem shelving Schmid tonight. We know this about Carolina, they won’t be denied creating offensive zone pressure. Not sure how the Devils will respond, but honestly this is a much worse matchup than us. Devils try that trap against the Canes and they will destroy it. (As where we were a bunch of pussies)

Second game in a row that no name goalie has been pulled. So frustrating to watch and realize our soft team couldn’t ****ing manage shit against Jersey.
Not surprised at all by what Carolina is doing just angry our guys could not do the same.

Gallant scapegoated in my opinion. I think he hit the nail on the head. They had a team last year with guys he wanted and then this year we built a finesse team primed to be shut down. I fully expect Quinneville to be the next coach. If they don’t toughen up the composition of the roster it won’t matter.

You guys were to right.
I’m a little surprised by it. The guy had two successful seasons with a disappointing second playoff run.
I don’t know how the coach can be blamed for the players being flat in a playoff game. A playoff game?!?!
Not sure where we go from here but this team lacks grit.

All in all, I think he's a good coach, let's see what he can do. If he fails, it won't be because of lack of experience, that's for sure, lol.

Meh... Best available I suppose. Tell you what though, won't surprise me a bit if we're looking for a new coach 2 years from now. I'm trying to fight the overwhelming pessimism that is crushing any hope I am trying to feel for our team.

He’s here because he’s a proven winner and the anti Gallant. He’s not a softy with players and their buddy and he’s an X’s and O’s guy who can make in game adjustments. Honestly I don’t think there was a better option unless it was Quennville. And he has a ton of baggage and isn’t even certain to be allowed back.

I couldn't say "MEH" any harder... Gallant wasn't the issue, it was big name top paid players not preforming. I give this signing a C- Gallant was a players coach and not much of a tactician. I actually believe the opposite, most trained monkeys could have led the Rangers to their record the last 2 years. Gallant was grossly outmaneuvered by Ruff and most people know it. You look at who won the cup and you can’t tell me the Rangers couldn’t have hoisted the cup. Except we shit the bed against the Devils. I’m now of the thinking with everything I have read that Gallant paid the appropriate price. You listen to Laviolette and you get why he is a top 10 winning coach historically. I’ve come around to lining the hire.

I’ve come around to lining the hire. I have no issue with the hiring of Laviolette. My feeling of "meh" is not because of him it's because of our franchise. It's enhanced because of a well-deserved first ballot hall of fame induction for Henrik. When you read the stats the man compiled in his career for us, I sit there and wonder how the hell did we not win a Cup with this guy? And then I remember it's because he played for our Rangers. A team that no matter how the odds are stacked in our favor we'll manage to **** things up. www.nhl.com/rangers/news/henrik-lundqvist---30-stats-from-no-30s-hall-of-fame-career/c-344885710Maybe Laviolette will be able to break through. Maybe. I'm not holding my breath though and, like I said in an earlier post, wouldn't surprise me if we're looking for a new coach in 2-3 years.

The “meh” is “here we go again”. We’ll get excited next regular season yet all realize it means nothing until the playoff. With 1 Cup in 80 years I sometimes wonder why all these names don’t waive their NTC for a better shot at the Cup. My gosh, two lottery picks, existing stars, veterans who force their way here . . . and still “here we go again”. it’s “meh”
