Stay away from Machado and Harper please. And sell Stanton to the Dodgers who are going to be very desperate.

Let me say this.......I'll take David Robertson in a heartbeat. Word is he want's to pitch near his Rhode Island home.

Thoughts on the Paxton deal? It cost the Yankees Sheffield to get him.

Thoughts on the Paxton deal? It cost the Yankees Sheffield to get him. its good, hes not a true "ace", but another guy that should give quality starts ... seems like strategy is to hoard a bunch of them, rather than roll the dice all on one guy. With our bullpen last year that made sense ... just wish they could retain Robertson

With our bullpen last year that made sense ... just wish they could retain Robertson I think it is a good deal as well. He has ace stuff when healthy and the Yankees will have his rights for the next 3 years. Health is a concern of course. Compatibility with Yankees Stadium is also a concern. Not sure how he has done there

Thoughts on the Paxton deal? It cost the Yankees Sheffield to get him. Definitely not an ace. CAn be ace-like at times. Never pitched more than 160 innings. Will take a DL stint at some point. Good #2 Still missing that Chris Sale or Justin Verlander or Corey Kluber type IMO. I do like the Big Maple nickname however. Big Maple in the Big Apple.

Thoughts on the Paxton deal? It cost the Yankees Sheffield to get him. I was surprised they traded Sheffield (for anybody). I never heard of the other two prospects involved, but they seem to be unremarkable. I know the Yankees were big on Paxton, and they got him. So I'll give it a . Lets just hope he's not another Sonny Gray.

Michael Kay said it was 3. I referenced him. If he is wrong, then ok Yeah its 2019 and 2020. Free agent in 2021 at age 32. Giving up Sheffield is a huge risk IMO. But when you think about it, we traded Andrew Miller for Sheffield with Clint Frazier headlining, and 2 others. I guess they feel Shef wasnt ready for MLB in 2019. So they added a much needed lefty with Montgomery still on the shelf and CC another year older. Now they need a lefty bat. And another RH starter like Eovaldi to finish the rotation.

The article I posted looked like he could be a free agent "after" the 2021 season. Plus, the mention of Michael Kay stating there were three years left. So it's two years, not three. No biggie....

More importantly.... Yankees remain interested in Patrick Corbin, J.A. Happ after James Paxton trade. Yankees' rotation undergoing major changes. Though the Yankees traded for Mariners LHP James Paxton on Monday, they remain interested in signing another pitcher through free agency, according to SNY.tv's Andy Martino. The Yankees are still looking to pursue LHPs Patrick Corbin and J.A. Happ, according to Martino and Fox Sports' Jon Morosi. New York dealt top prospect Justus Sheffield and two other minor leaguers to Seattle to acquire the 30-year-old Paxton, who went 11-6 with a 3.76 ERA in 28 starts for the Mariners in 2018. But the Yankees are still looking to shore up their rotation with another big name. "I can't predict what's going to happen as we move forward, other than the fact that we need to fill some needs," Yankees GM Brian Cashman said on Monday, according to the Bergen Record's Pete Caldera. www.sny.tv/yankees/news/yankees-remain-interested-in-patrick-corbin-ja-happ-after-james-paxton-trade/300932184

If memory serves, the last time we faced Paxton we crushed him. I think he exited in the 2nd inning.
Not sure he's the guy he was. And the big problem for both the Yanks and the Sox when they trade for these small market pitchers, is are they able to handle the pressure cookers in those cities. See "Sonny Gray".

Paxton's worst starts last year came against the Yankees, Red Sox and Astros. Great.
Career wise he is good against Boston however, 2.49 ERA. He struggles against the Yanks though with a 6.55 ERA and gave up 4 runs on 2 HRs in 5 innings in his lone start in the Bronx.
I think they could have done better dealing their #1 prospect.
Not impressed.
I probably wouldn't do that trade on his injury questions alone.
He will be a 2-3 starter for us until he hits the DL.

Yankees acquire outfielder from Dodgers in minor-league swap. The Yankees acquired outfielder Tim Locastro from the Dodgers on Wednesday for minor league right-hander Drew Finley and $75,000. The 26-year-old Locastro made his big-league debut with the Dodgers in 2017, appearing in three games, and hit .182 (2 for 11) this year with one double and four steals in 18 games, including three starts in center field. He batted .286 with 23 doubles, four homers, 29 RBIs and 19 steals in the minors this year, mostly at Triple-A Oklahoma City. nypost.com/2018/11/21/yankees-acquire-outfielder-from-dodgers-in-minor-league-swap/

Secret word is Yanks going after Corbin and Harper to complete their offseason.
Corbin in the 4th SP behind Paxtin Severino and Tanaka while Harper is signed to play 1st base.
