CBS has us taking this guy in Round 1. I had not before heard him mentioned with the top guys in the upcoming class. He seems to be gaining steam. Could be a guy to watch as season goes.

4. Daniel Jones*, QB, Duke Height: 6-5. Weight: 215. Projected 40 Time: 4.85. Projected Round (2019): 1-2. 10/11/18: Jones has completed 70 percent of his passes in 2018 for 615 yards with five touchdowns and one interception. Scouts say that Jones has a good skill set, and they feel that he is getting good preparation for the NFL. They also believe that Jones is likely to return to school for 2019. He missed two games with a collarbone injury.
8/28/18: Jones has earned some compliments from scouting sources. They think that the redshirt junior has some physical talent and also is getting great coaching development from David Cutcliffe. In 2017, Jones completed 56 percent of his passes for 2,439 yards with 12 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. As a freshman, he made 63 percent of his passes for 2,836 yards with 16 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Jones has good height and a nice skill set. He could be a quarterback who continues to rise over 2018 and 2019.

Really talented QB. The broken collar bone scares me a bit though. Has mobility, good arm, and a smart player

i had mention Daniel Jones after taking Barkley.David Cutcliffe is Eli Ole Miss, coach. Reason Eli and Peyton worked out at Duke. Someone, responded back he is listed by Walter Football as a 4th round pick. Mahomes was listed as 3rd round pick initially , by Walter football. We know how that turned out.. Jones is well taught by Cutcliffe.

Since Cutcliffe has been there Duke has a bonafide football program When Dave Brown was there who knew Duke had a football team.

Watched a bit of film on him yesterday after I saw the mock draft. He looked pretty clean. Similar to Herbert, better athlete but not a better arm.
No expert but i'd say Herbert is still the better option for sure. Both seem like quarterbacks rather than just athletes which is a good sign.

Carried himself well in the interview. Have to wonder if he'd still be there at 17.

worst QB not just in this draft, but last years as well. Worst QB of any draft ever. Worst player in all professional sports, even curling. Videos likely to surface of him shaving homeless kittens, mooning elderly ladies, and smoking in government buildings. We should probably call the NFL home office in the morning and let them know we are shutting down the franchise and would like all logos removed, records stricken, and Canton busts destroyed.

More i watch of him and listen to arguments, more I like him. Still though have to question why take him at 6th overall when it looked like he'd be there @ 17. And who could we have gotten @6 instead of Dexter Lawrence @17

And who could we have gotten @6 instead of Dexter Lawrence @17 Because DG believes other GM's coveted him and would not be there at 17. We'll never really know for sure if he would have, but I'll defer to the professionals. If DG thought Jones would be there for us later, I have to believe he would have taken Allen at 6.

In the end it’s for he best. I am very happy with Dexter Lawrence. Not to knock Allen but I never saw him as a game changing pass rusher. An Anthony Barr type really. Which is certainly worth a lot but still this wasn’t Khalil Mack or anything. I think Lawrence has just as much chance to be an impact player for us and the net-positive from Lawrence will be greater than Allen. As for Jones all this debate about when he would be available is just noise. When you have a franchise QB you believe in you can’t mess around. It really is that simple.

I dont agree with your take on Allen but as for your second point, I do agree. Its noise. You take your QB at 6 all the time if you believe he is that good. I dont see it, but DG did and that's what matters. I dont like the fact he is being so defensive though right now. He is letting the media get to him. No need for him to say "I guarantee at least 2 other teams would take him." He cant guarantee that unless he tapped the phones of those GMs. Sounds like damage control.

Gettleman makes himself pretty accessible with the media Nd likes to be colourful. Media isn’t used to it and goes off the deep end everything he says. DID HE REALLY MEAN...?! Etc. Dave will probably be more careful. You feed them the scraps. Give the media a steak and they go rabid. There was enough interest league wide in Jones to fear he could be taken between 6 and 17. That justifies it. No need for him to go further with the explanation.
