John Fennely had a comparison DJ to the great Trevor Lawrence first 3 years first 48 starts made a mistake the numbers are pretty much Identical I mean to the T. Giants need to move on yes. That is more about what the Giants didn't do then what Jones can't do he is damaged and was when Daboll arrived. It is a sad story hopefully Schoen does a better job of growing our next QB, and that starts with protection and a legit run game spearheaded by a solid OL and a true #1 WR. Something we haven't had here in years and will never win till we do. Those things are the top 2 failures of Dave Gettlemen I saw that comparison and while it was surprising, but when you consider TLaWs rookie season was historically bad while DJs best season in terms of TDs was is rookie year, it makes sense. we all know TLaw is a much better Qb than DJ at this point. No debate He has more arm talent but he s not the best processor that comparison was apples to apples the whole way. the only thing that was not Identical was the 207 yards more Lawrence had. Lawrence only became a better story when they surrounded him with weapons and got better on the OL and on D. I can say now Jones has little chance of ever reaching his potential

OK we all know the Bears have a monumental decision to make at QB with the 1st pick in the draft. Now of course they can keep Fields and get a bonanza of high draft picks for that 1st pick. But Fields is in his 3rd year of his rookie contract, say the Bears go rookie QB so they have a 5 year rookie contract on their QB. Fields is then going in a trade. Would he still cost a 1st rd pick ? Maybe not his won-lost numbers are 7-23 in games he's started. He's been hurt every year, 2 years left on the rookie contract maybe he goes for a 2nd rd pick add a lower pick with it if you wish. We can still afford him even with DJ's contract is he worth it ? Do we like this option especially if it doesn't cost us a 1st rd pick and we still pick 4th or 5th. Some talking heads don't think the Bears will get a 1st rd pick for him. Others love him. Any opinions ? I might prefer just to sit tight in the Draft and take Jaylen Daniels

We might have a shot at him falling to us if we pick 4th. Risky at this time I think the first 3 picks are QB's.

He's better than the QBs on our roster next year, Daniel Jones and Tommy Devito. The problem with him is, I think he only has 1 year left on his rookie contract? If bears will give him up for a 4th rounder and maybe another late rd pick I would do it I don't think he goes for as low as a 4th rd pick. There would be teams in playoff contention or near it that might make a try for him. My first guess would be Pittsburgh, possibly Seattle, Atlanta, Minny (doubt if Chi trades QB to Vikes), Tenn., Wash. A lot of possible trade partners. But not many willing to give up a 1st rd pick imo. Possibly Pitt. I think a 2nd rd pick maybe even two 2nd rd picks 1 in each draft 24 and 25 drafts. Wouldn't give up both our 2nd rd picks this year unless we trade back and get another 2nd rd pick in the mix of picks we acquire. It's his option year thats gonna hurt his value like Jones he hasn't had much of an opportunity to prove it. think maybe 2nd possibly a 3rd will get it done Bears will have 0 leverage if they draft QB #1 they might even keep fields around for the year as a backup still on rookie deal. let him walk and someone else will pay him on approve it deal in 2025.
