I was thinking, who were the greatest NFL players to ever play, but only play for the team they were drafted by? To me that shows not only greatness, but Loyalty.
Ill start with a few obvious Giants in Eli Manning (2004-2019), Michael Strahan (1993-2007), Tiki Barber (1997-2006) and Amani Toomer (1996-2008) (Crazy they all played together too)...
Barry Sanders RB Detroit 1989-98
Arguably the greatest RB in history, just like Barber, ended his career earlier than most thought he should have.

I didnt forget. I wanted to leave a few out there for the rest of you to pick lol. LT was the reason I am a Giants fan. I actually got to meet him one on one a few years back at a signing. Talked about Xs and Os, and his college days at UNC. It was petty surreal to be honest. He was cool as hell. Interestingly enough, I also met Michael Strahan and had a nice one on one with him too. This was at a bar. Another really cool dude.

Has to be post ‘94 when the salary cap was introduced.. Before that most of these players were shackled by their teams and couldn’t move without them saying so. If not you can pick all of the steel curtain.. The purple people eaters.. The fearsome foursome.. the list goes on and on.. Names that stand out are Larry Fitzgerald Jr, Ray Lewis, Patrick Willis, Will Shields, and Antonio Gates.
Speaking of Strahan.. He could have bolted once he started making a name for himself. I’m sure some team would have backed the brinks truck to his driveway. Being that he stayed here for his whole career says a lot. He bleeds Giant blue..

First name that comes to mind other than any Giant....the great Dick Butkus
Born in the south side of Chicago, and played his entire legendary career on that piss poor team, and still won defensive player of the year twice.
I idolized him as a kid ...savage nasty violent.... and at a time where the MLB was king on defense.

LT is the best of all time with one team, IMO. 2nd best, that I can think of is Barry Sanders. Butkus is up there for sure. Edit, Jim brown is #2.

I idolized him as a kid ...savage nasty violent.... and at a time where the MLB was king on defense. That’s when they put the mike in linebackers. Dick Butkus was tackling people in the stands.. Willie Lanier breaking jaws.. Ray Nitschke burying the bodies.. Lee Roy Jordan pummeling anything that moves. And Tommy Nobis finishing them off. That’s a cleanup crew that any offense would steer clear of.

Until the CBA most were forced into loyalty unless their team cut them and wasn’t loyal to them.

The answer is yes, and I already called him crazy for it. If Bowers was a guaranteed Kelce type TE, minus the Swift crap, would you consider him at 6? Guaranteed? Hmm, still tough one. Initial thought was yes, because you cant beat a guarantee. Second thought was, our OL and QB are still shit, so Kelce would be pretty useless. Id rather land an above average starter at RT (think Orlando Brown Jr. caliber) than a Kelce level TE, for example.

Would you consider him at 6? You shouldn't be the GM if you don't consider him at 6. I'm not saying you have to take the guy but anyone not considering a player of his caliber is a fool.
What we do in free agency will heavily influence the draft though. We could cut Waller and save a bunch of cap space, which would create a hole at TE. If we keep Waller then TE is much less of a need. I like Bowers but don't think he can improve this team as much as an OT or WR.

Absolutely. If the Giants go and get a top G/T and a WR and vet QB in Free Agency somehow, and cut Waller, Bowers has to be a legit option IMO. This is the BEST TE prospect Ive ever seen to be honest. I dont know if that will translate, but I would like to think it does with a system that loves TEs getting wide open. He is leaps and bounds better a prospect IMO than Pitts, who went #4 overall. He definitely has the potential of a Kelce or Gronk.

We have coaches with a history in New England with Gronk and KC with Kelce, if anyone can make a TE successful it should be them. At the very least we need a OL in free agency and a WR. I think a vet QB is a forgone conclusion unless they plan to go QB in round 1.
We don't need a Mike Evans or Tee Higgins, both would be great but probably too pricey for us. We could add Tyler Boyd, Calvin Ridley, Gabe Davis type. Not sure what Pittman will sign for. Lots of very good WRs could drive the price down a little.

The #6 overall pick translates to roughly 2 late 1st round picks (mid 20s) and 2 second round picks. Is there any TE that you would ever have traded 2 late first rd picks and 2 second round picks for? That’s the value to keep in mind when deciding on who to draft with these high picks. In my mind, that immediately crosses quite a few positions off the board, one of which is TE.
