So we signed him for more on Runyan than Glowinski is making and he's not as good? Won't make any judgement yet, will wait to see how it plays out. Not close to a home run on paper. a minimum, he can pass protect very well. he's an average player, if we have an average OL plus Andrew Thomas im happy. Can’t say this signing makes “it” move but average would be a huge upgrade to what we’ve had.

Never missed a game in 3 years since becoming a starter. Until he played for the Giants.

OG seems to be a 'new' premium position.

I know his PFF grades are trash but this is a big improvement from what we've had.
He's given up 2, 3 and 2 sacks the last three years on 900+, 1000+ and 1000+ snaps. He's also only had 6, 1 and 1 penalties. This kid can play. I had him as OG #4.
3 years, $30m is a good deal for him.

The FO pointed out in the year end presser that injuries/ lack of depth and coaching were the issues this year.
A lot of fans are expecting big signings on the line but the FO has been signaling that that depth and better coaching is what’s been holding this unit back.
That Raiders line that Bracillo had playing mid-pack last year had 2 undrafted FAs and a 5th player on it.
They’re right, or they’re wrong. But the strategy is there for people to see pretty clearly.

This move is OK. Nothing to brag or bitch about. We needed a quality guard and got one.

I read the win over the Eagles would carry the Giants through the off-season. True story

90% of these big-money first day deals will turn out to be terrible deals, yet every year fans wail and gnash their teeth when their teams don't play at the high end of the market

Translation: we didn’t pay Saquon, we won’t pay McKinney, but we won’t pay for a Robert Hunt either. So here’s your new value Guard. Make sure we keep our expectations tempered. They are tempered. Clearly punting to 2025, earliest. Which is fine with me. As long as the rest of the moves are in line with that thinking. Trading multiple high picks for tee Higgins or signing Derrick Henry for 10 million would make me pretty mad

So a good pass blocking guard and absolute liability in the run game?

Maybe some perspective I just noticed: We resigned Andrew Thomas, a great LT for $3.4 million more than the Panthers paid for a guard. Almost the same guaranteed money too. There’s a hill to die on, FA guards aren’t it.

Where does Runyon rank in run-blocking? Looks like a back-up. Giants overpaid but at least he's an upgrade over Glowinski. Will be interesting to see if a good OL free agent is willing to join the lowly considered Giants. Giants still need to sign two good OL free agents.

Actually Runyan is a top 10 pass blocking Guard in the NFL for multiple years in a row. He is not a back up. I did see somewhere though that Glowinski's run blocking grade on PFF is better than Runyan's.

As a Michigan man and fan I am underwhelmed.
He ain’t his dad. Not even close.
i’m surprised he even made it in the NFL which leads me to believe he’s at least improved some since he was a 50-50 liability while at Michigan.

Thier job is to fix the other 70% of the offense this year.

I'm still hopeful they can get a starting RT by over paying though.

They need to add even another starting O-linemen in free agency. Whether that be the Raiders guy or breaking the bank for Onwenu either way Runyan is not enough no matter who the QB will be. Not sure if they go QB in the draft but if they do they need a true #1 WR too.

The pearl clutchers always scream to extremely overpay for the top FA name. Then in two years will call for Schoen to be fired for overpaying for the top FA name.

Same here. cdngfan fan made an exellent post saying the Giants signed Thomas for 3.4 million more then Hunt got.
