If Albert Breer’s reporting is accurate that’s got to be one of the dumbest reason I’ve heard for taking a QB. You take a QB because YOU believe in him and believe in YOUR ability to develop him, you don’t take a QB because OTHER TEAMS are interested in him.

I think it's more just underscoring the respect people have for O'Connell and Fans as quarterback evaluators and developers.
Pats needing a QB was always gonna be the toughest thing.
Let's hope DJ can develop a chip on his shoulder and find some skills and make the desire to do this a moot point.

The takeaway is that Minnesota offered 3 1st round picks and there was no interest from NE. There is no chance they were not going to take Maye. As they should have.

By not adding in both the 25 and 26 1st Rounders proves the Giants are sold on Jones

If not for New England having another Jones, we would have been welcoming a new gun slinger to town.

I don’t think that’s the only reason they took him. But GMs are fully aware that 1st rd QBs don’t turn out most of the time. If other teams are calling it’s validating that they’re offering big capital for the player you already like. The other media report that came out was within 24 hours of the draft the Patriots were signalling to teams calling that they’d be taking the pick.

If they believed in him, he would be a Giant. You can't half ass it. Offer something the Pats can't refuse.

By not adding in both the 25 and 26 1st Rounders proves the Giants are sold on Jones IMO, being sold on 8 is gonna have them updating their resumes at the end of next season, especially if they don't walk out of here with a QB to develop which could be ready to play in 2025.

By not adding in both the 25 and 26 1st Rounders proves the Giants are sold on Jones Jones is trash, they should have offered their next 10 first round picks to get away from him. 8 is 🗑, but giving up that many first rounders would be felonious. Lol

Why do I feel like the Giants leaked this out to save face in case they don't walk out of the draft with a QB? Just a feeling......

The QB draft gets overrated every single season. I still remember EJ Manuel being a can't miss prospect. I also know about the next John Elway in JaMarcus Russell. I honestly don't care who they have at QB. Just get it right. The Giants have not gotten it right in their transition from Eli Manning. 5 years is a large enough body of work to tell.

The bigger issue is that the Giants haven't gotten much right in the last decade. Jones isn't our biggest problem and I don't think any QB in this draft was overcoming our real issues anyway.

It helps that Daboll and OConnell have had some success bringing QBs along but yes the Bears and Washington were closed NE did the right thing listened but stuck, they confirmed there was 0 amount that was enough.

I would say that combination of keeping Manning a few years too long, whiffing on his replacement, the HC turnstile that this team has been since TC retired, hiring Dave Gettleman and the inability to develop even a mediocre oline group has obliterated this once great franchise. It appears unstable and chaotic. We might not be exactly on the same page, but we are certainly in the same section of the ballpark if that makes sense.

In hind sight they had a chance of there pick of 4 through 7 they did not have enough conviction in those player to make them the 6th pick and probably felt #1 to much over lap with jones contract #2 The roster has more holes than miss cheese #3 Did not have any of these QBs in Nabors Hemisphere as far as value goes, if they drafted a QB he would have dealt with no #1 and a incomplete roster. I can't say to was right or wrong I wanted a QB but was prepared for them to do what they did, building on the defense and getting an elite prospect to play catch with who ever they put behind center.

SIX games to show me if they are remotely competitive, i.e. go 3-3. Otherwise next year could be the most painful one in recent memory as all 'hopium' wears off and we're looking at a brutal stretch of meaningless, chaotic and depressing contests. If that happens we should trade for and play Zack Wilson immediately!

What makes it worse is what you say is spot on and what I say is spot on 2 differnt 6 year windows of roster destruction. They were floundering in the front office with drafts well before the wheels fell off when the prime of those drafted 2002 through 2007 ran there course. there was no body left but Eli they squeezed 2011 out of that OL and DL along with a few good picks and good freeagnt pickups. when I look back I would trade that away for what we have now 7 days a week and twice on Sunday. When the Roster is solid Schoen will have the luxury of stockpiling picks and letting his guys walk for cap purposes and getting comp picks till then it is give some away like SQB and take a little back like the OLs we signed and the trade for Burns re aranging the money by position.

I used to make up fantasy plays in my head before each game of long TDs, amazing game-winning drives, ballistic missile passes... BLOWOUTS even! I refuse to entertain such irrational, harmful thoughts any longer.
