I'd like to see them seed the teams by W-L record after the division winners and 2 best records have been determined. It would make games more competitive at season's end instead of teams phoning it in because they already have a home game locked up since they won the division. AFC (1)KC (12-4)* (2)LAC (12-4)
(6)IND (10-6) @ (3)NE (11-5)*
(5)BAL (10-6)* @ (4)HOU (11-5)*
---------- (1)NO (13-3)* (2)LAR (13-3)*
(6)PHI (9-7) @ (3)CHI (12-4)*
(5)DAL (10-6)* @ (4)SEA (10-6)
(*)division winner

Yeah, I hate the fact that a team like the Chargers, which had the second best record in the conference, has to play on the road in the first round

Many people make the argument that winning your division is more important than winning more games. I've never subscribed to that. There's been 8-8 teams (and worse) hosting 12-4/11-5s. That's just crazy. I think winning your division should be a guaranteed playoff spot, but that's it. The NBA got on board with this a few years ago. It works.
