Who wants a pain-in-the-a** player on their team? It doesn't matter what color they are. Players over-estimate their worth to a team. Most NFL players are easily replaced. Teams will put up with more BS if the player is fantastic but even with players like this there are limits. Kaepernick thinks he's one of the best he's only decent to middling. Kaepernick is an easily replaced player. Just a cog in the machine. His girlfriend messed up his mind from what I've heard. She screwed him up. Did she? Or did she help him create one last opportunity to monetize a career that was clearly ending? Sarcasman,
You are a glass-half-full kind of guy.

With Luck Retiring and Kelly looking good in pre season. I think Kelly will be starting there shortly.

That’s complete nonsense as your convoluted and ridiculous attempt at supporting it clearly shows. As far as NFL QBs go, he’s a good RB. And while you’re entitled to your opinion just as I’m entitled to mine, dissenting opinions are just that and nothing more. So thanks for the personal attack, I guess dismissing any opinion you disagree with as racist is a fine substitute for a logical or rational rejoinder. I’d be happy to accept your premise but I know too much about football to do so and I’m in no hurry to join a virtue circle comprised of imbeciles. Sarcasman, ignorant racist So I'm going to list some starting Qb's and you tell me if they belong in the league over Kap. Blake Bortles Geno Smith Kyle Lauletta Alex Tanney Nathan "4 INT's in a game" Peterson Colt McCory Chase Daniel Landy Jones Max Moore I'll just stop right there. So by your logic, all of those guys are better than Kap. You go ahead and tell me which player that I listed is better than Kap, then I'll prove you wrong. And if you can't prove it with stats and facts don't even bother. Kap been to the NFC playoffs...He also probably has more wins than most of the guys I named and that list is longer, I just didn't feel the need to list even worse QB's. All the QB,'s posted do not make starting QB money. Except, maybe Bortles. That was Jacksonville mistake. They corrected that by shipping Bortles out. Kap , biggest problem has been his passing accuracy. His biggest asset was his mobility.

Why would they sign Kaepernick to battle for 3rd or 4th string? First off, I doubt he'd want to do that and secondly it opens the door to some brainless bleeding heart either taking offense on his behalf "how dare they only offer him an opportunity to battle for a backup job, he should be starting!" or being outraged and crying racism when he doesn't make the roster. Neither of these options addresses the real issue, which in this case is not racism. The problem for Kaepernick is the league has seen him, they're fully aware that he's not a NFL QB. Most of his supporters don't know the game well enough to understand that so they figure it must be a more sinister albeit incorrect reason. Whooooaaaahh.....Slow down. This is a BS argument to say that Kaepernick is not in the league due to his play. He is better than a ton of Qb's collecting checks on an NFL Roster. He took Alex Smith's job in SF, yet Alex Smith is making big bucks while Kap is out of the league. It's freaking racism and anyone that doesn't see that is either ignorant or a racist. I'm glad Kap did what he did because it got more people talking about the real problem of police violence, especially the disproportionate against minorities aspect. I believe in white privilege and systemic racism and support the various social/legislative attempts to mitigate both (including some form of reparations). Though it is not definitive proof of my lack of prejudice, my wife is from Senegal, Africa and 3 of my children are 1/2 black. I also gave up a 20+ year career in Sales and Marketing to teach in a struggling, urban, predominantly African american school. None of the above proves I'm not racist but I think the only way it would be less likely is if I were actually black. I think it does prove I'm not ignorant of social issues impacting the black community nor of how businesses works. Last, I've watched and followed football since 1979 and have been the type of fan to purchase industry specific publications prior to the internet and was an early adopter of those technologies that made the various magazines I used to read outdated. So I dont think I'm ignorant when it comes to football. All that said, I think Kap isnt playing because he wants too much money for a backup and doesn't really want to be a backup anyway. Teams also dont want the drama he would bring if he is just going to be a backup. The only whiff of racism is the systemic aspect of it in that teams know they would have to deal with drama which they wouldn't need to if he were white - and that is pushing the definition of systemic racism a bit, I think. Disagree if you like - I'm open to being wrong - but please avoid blanket statements about ignorance and racism because it makes those of us who disagree but aren't either want to just disengage, which helps no one. The ability to just disengage is an example of white privilege, btw, but most people aren't reflective enough to recognize their normal, human reaction of wanting to disengage from unfair treatment and then acting on it is an example of privilege (minorities often have no choice to disengage). So, unless you only want to talk to the small number of people who already think deeply on these things, people you probably don't need to convince of anything, I suggest you try a different tone to your discourse.

Not sure why this Kaepernick thing is so hard to figure out for some. He is a guy who will indisputably bring a lot of distractions to a team and his level of play does not justify the level of distraction he will bring. Why would any team bring in a backup player who would create the kind of circus that this guy would bring? Pretty simple stuff This is true. I personally think he's better than a bunch of QB that are on NFL rosters. But you have to weigh the negatives, especially for a backup.
