Family is asking for prayers as Jared is in ICU. For those who were unaware, his weight ballooned to about 500 pounds after football. I heard he was working to get his weight under control. Best wishes to him.

Best of luck, and prayers for him and his family. Keep us abreast. Last I heard... two years ago?... he was working with therapists/trainers to get his weight down. Don't know if 500# is recent, or history. That weight puts a lot of strain on your heart.

Obesity in this country is a serious health problem. No surprise other nations label us "fat, lazy Americans."

One generalization to make a point about another generalization...…...lol "other nations".....that's a lot of people, don't you think? "fat lazy americans"...….really?? Jared is suffering from a serious disorder. It is not something to poke fun at. (not saying you are) I remember how hear felt Tom Coughln's comments were when the topic of Lorenzen came up. He really felt for the young man and what he was dealing with.

Last year I was over 300 pounds and that didn’t do any favors for my bad ankle. I wish him the best.

Obesity in this country is a serious health problem. No surprise other nations label us "fat, lazy Americans." What other nations label us as fat and lazy? Why? Do you fit one of the 2 descriptions? You ever been to France, Italy, Spain, Greece, Portugal, Turkey, Israel? I have. I was struck by how few fat/obese people live in those countries & in my conversations with them, they stated that when they have visited the US on vacay to places such as Disney or NYC, they are amazed at the amount of fatbodies they see wobbling about. I told em, "well when you work 40+hrs a week & don't make time to cook or exercise, & eat just fast food, that's what happens. Funny how asides from sumo wrestlers, you hardly see any fat people in Asian countries. You can deny it all you want, but obesity is a major problem in this country & even military leaders are worried that future recruits will be too fat to even serve if this problem keeps going.

Easy there fella. The “lazy” piece was the one I questioned. We work harder in this country than the rest of those countries combined.
