"Today, in a telephone conference call from the 49ers' base in Santa Clara, Calif., Jim Burt ripped into Parcells. He left no doubt that he thought Parcells had forced him into leaving the Giants, and he even said he hoped the Giants would run a sweep toward their sideline.
''Then I'll be looking for a curly-haired gray guy or a fat guy with the headphones on,'' he said. ''I'm going to barrel them over.''
The one with the curly gray hair is Lamar Leachman, the defensive line coach throughout Burt's career with the Giants. The other one is Parcells."

Look, I get being upset that the team that drafted you didn't resign you or traded you....but the level of pettiness being demonstrated by LC and OBJ is getting to be bananas. Just shut up and play ball. WHy is that so hard?

I am actually surprised he is saying things like this judging from how he was when he was a NYG player. He was mouthy but not like this. He has stepped over the line and sounds like a total tool bag.
If I was his coach I would question where his priorities are at. Do you want to be a Redskin or do want to just be a vengeful ex-Giant.

Clearly a joke.
Probably should hire a writer next time, but that's another thread.

Are we surprised by this? DeAngelo Williams, Josh Norman and Steve Smith Sr all had their issues with Gettleman and spoke loud about it to social media. When Gettleman got fired all 3 basically kicked sand in his face as he was out the door. Point is Gettleman is not a very likable guy when it comes to the business of being a general manager. Now we have Beckham and Collins not being able to deal with it professionally. Put a microphone in front of a young pro athlete more likely you will get a head scratcher comment.

Thank you for posting this. Watch the copious amounts of hate thrown at Collins by Giants fans based on his recent comments. Then think about what the reactions to Burt's comments are today, and likely were when he said them. I wonder why there is such a difference in vitriol? Oh wait, I know the answer....

It’s not releasing and trading players that rub guys the wrong way, it’s how he did it. Steve Smith Sr is beloved in Carolina, probably one of the toughest receivers of his era. And he found out he was getting released through social media. I get it, being a GM you have to make the tough decisions on players livelihoods. But it comes to common sense on how you handle it. There’s a reason Gettleman never got a GM position until 26 years in the business. And had a winning record in Carolina and they gave him the boot. I believe he’s an old school guy who can’t adapt to what the league is now when it comes to communication skills with his players. Also which is not being talked about, he basically made two players despise the franchise, one is in the division. Former players want to play their best against their former team, well now you just put a bigger bulls eye on the Giants back. Also I know all about construction, I’m a 638 Steamfitter..

All I can say is wonder why this locker room was a mess ,who knows maybe if LC took a different approach with Apple when he was going through all those personal issues maybe it turns out better, still glad both are gone and OBJ too, because he was never gonna be happy here and he would just keep doing stupid stuff the GQ interview said all you need to know in his twisted head he is bigger then the game the team, this team had 0 mature young leadership, maybe OBJ will get down to business and grow some now, don't know about Collins tho he seems like a crybaby lol.

I agree with what you're saying but I also think in this day and age with this league that old school mentality is what you really need otherwise you get into situations where players (i.e. - Leveon Bell) essentially hold teams hostage. Gettleman doesn't give a s*** who you are and will ship anyone out if they're not with the program (see the departed Diva for reference). I love it. This is a business and unfortunately in this business nowadays lifers are a rarity due to the CBA and free agency. I like the no nonsense approach. I understand that vets don't but I also really don't care if it's for the betterment of the team. Collins is the unhappiest $85 million dollar man I've ever seen. Not sure why he's so upset.....can you imagine what shape this team would be in if they forked over that kind of dough to him?!?!?!?

Also he and Shurmur called OBJ don't think he was as hurt as he lead on he was out of the country to busy to call Shurmur back, we have had several players go to the skins or in the division that were better then either of these two, they won Bavaro /Banks/ to name a couple but they were grown men went and played ball, I don't think this guys communication skills are great but there is a solid message now to all we will be a pro outfit no more off book interviews or dragging teammates through the mud in the media he's gruff I'll take it over rudderless and leaderless, now if he fails I'll be the first to fry him I liked Reese for the first 4 years too but once it was clear that the only draft he had in those 4 years that was really good was the first I started to change my mind by the end of year 5 I could see the end coming for this franchise.
